All aright, a little background here. I hate fall. The only good part about it is football. But I hate the approaching cold and the leaves dying is not pretty to me but a reminder that cold and death is coming. So… I have a parity that I’ve been working on. This is version 1.0. Very silly of course.

I think I need a different word instead of misquoting…..

By the way, I think I hold the copyright on my parity so I can post all the verses!

quote:

It’s the most ugly time of the year
The trees look like they’re dying
The leaves are rotting and cold is very near
It’s the most ugly time of the year

It’s the sad-saddest season of all
With warmth going away
If only it were May
Soon snow comes to call
It’s the sad-sadist season of all

There’ll be cold nights of shivering
Roads full sliding
And wrecks out in the snow
There’ll be terrible stories
And tales of wrecked deer of
Cars long, long ago

It’s the most ugly time of the year
There’ll be much misquoting
And hearts will be dimming
When the cold is hear
It’s the most ugly time of the year

There’ll be cold nights of shivering
Roads full sliding
And wrecks out in the snow
There’ll be terrible stories
And tales of wrecked deer of
Cars long, long ago

It’s the most ugly time of the year
There’ll be much misquoting
And hearts will be dimming
When the cold is hear
It’s the most ugly time
It’s the most ugly time
It’s the most ugly time
It’s the most ugly time of the year

Autumn is my favorite time of the year and the only season I really miss living in Hawaii. The only downside to fall is all of those nasty football games.

I love fall, but I'm biased, I was born in September, and was a bookworm.

I love the fall. It smells so good and the air is so crisp and fresh. I also really like the winter so that could add to my enjoyment of the fall. Fall's also very very pretty what with the leaves changing and all; it's a great time for hiking.

I prefer spring to the fall. Things are growing instead of dying.

To me the fall feels like decline. Spring brings promise, and baseball.

I currently live in Texas, where it's been over 100 for the past week and the streak's going to continue a little while longer. The four seasons here are hot&dry, hot&rainy, cool&dry and cool&rainy. The leaves never change colors.

If you can't tell, I desperately miss fall (and not just because of football - although that's a huge plus). I miss the cool crisp weather, the beautiful colors of the leaves, the smells, everything about it.

So Jay, wanna trade your fall for my hot&dry?

I lived in Texas for six months. Two at Fort Hood and four at Fort Sam. I loved the weather. And it was summer. So yes! We can trade.

I am in southern Georgia this fall for school and I am really missing fall. Back in Indiana fall is absolutely beautiful. The leaves are such vivid colors. At the beginning the temperature is perfect. It is still hot as heck down here.

Jay, What's wrong with your eyes?!! Are you color blind or something? Here in the Rocky Mountains, I think fall is the absolutely most beautiful time of year. The yellow aspen leaves and red maple leaves give a stark contrast to the deep green firs and pines and the brilliant blue sky. I love to lie in dry meadow in the fall listen for elk bugles and coyote howls. I can watch flocks of geese wing their way over head. If I'm lucky, I may catch a hundred Sandhill cranes migrating south or perhaps pelicans or swans. Fall is absolute magic.

You clearly don't live in the mountains. Spring here is dominated by slush and mud. The vibrant greens and new life don't really get started until June.

I've been in Utah for 5 years now. You always hold clump gatherings when I'm out of town or otherwise occupied. I lead a fairly hectic life.

I love fall... it's when all the plants and trees around here begin to turn green again.

Plus, there is something comfortable about being warm, and knowing it's going to get cooler (rather than being warm, and knowing you're going to broil in a few months.)

I just hate the shortening days. . .can't wait till Spring equinox. Yes, Fall is beautiful, but like so many people I wake up before the sun rises and get home after it sets. Doesn't leave a lot of time to admire it :-(.

Fall is my favorite time of the year.
The coming of Halloween, that most mighty of holy days. I love the cool air and the falling leaves...and the change you feel...like just before a thunderstorm.

I like fall and winter personally, because it gets colder. It's easier to combat the cold (more layers and what not) than it is to combat the heat. Too bad it's fall here and it's still in the upper 90's (exceeding 100 on some days). Stupid Texas weather.

I like fall. Very pretty. For an ugly season in the midwest, I'd have to pick late winter/early spring: The period when the snow (or most of it) has melted but the plants aren't getting green yet. Everything is nasty brown, dead and muddy.

Oh, and less daylight is a plus in my book. We hates the yellow face, it burns us!

Walnuts are not nasty. [Razz] I love fall, and the thing I most miss from the fall in my childhood is walnut harvest, which we used to do as a family when my grandma had several acres of walnut trees. After we moved into a tract house, we still had three walnut trees in our back yard, and we harvested and sold those.

I've really got to find some walnuts to eat now. [Smile]

I adore fall, especially in a place where the changing of the leaves is a dramatic event. It's not so dramatic here in Portland because the leaves change slowly over the course of 3 months, but when I lived in Chicago and Utah.....mmm. I loved it. [Smile]

I guess. I still find it unbearable here where it's 100 outside and I have no A/C. Heck I can remove all my clothes and I'll still be just as hot as I was. At least when it's cold outside, I can put on more layers if I can't turn the heat on.

Other than that I still fail to find anything wrong with Fall. I missed my seasons when I was in SoCal. Except the rainy one that is.

All of the seasons are great, but fall is perfect, especially the early part here in Ohio. September and October are great months. The air is dry, the sky is clear, and the days have the perfect temperature, even when it gets in the mid 50's, because crisp air is great. I am looking out my window now and I can see a huge blue sky with almost no haze.

I lived in South Carolina for a few years. Autumn does not exist there. It goes from hot and humid to cool and humid. I prefer it here.

Enjoy the weather, Jay. You can't do much about it.

walnuts would not be nasty if they didn't have the hull outside the shell that turns black and makes spots on our house and porch, they taste just fine if you can get to them. *black walnuts not english ones.
