Hi all - there's no "poll" option available, but here's the deal: We have a *huge* blowout Halloween party every year. This year, I have to pick a theme. The hubby's being a fart knocker because I didn't think his idea was broad enough for a party and he told me to "just pick something."
SO - I'm putting it to a vote. Let me know what theme YOU think would be the most fun to go to/dress up for/etc.
here's what I've narrowed it down to:
Arabian Nights
Beach party/Luau
Heaven and Hell
Mardi Gras Masquerade
Roaring Twenties
please let me know what you think!!

cool - I tried the animal theme with him - called it Wild Things. but he wasn't a fan of that one. I guess becuase it's all grownups he was afraid of what he might see come thru the door in a cat suit... LOLOLOLOL

Roaring 20s, but I have the perfect outfit, always on hand for that theme, so I always reccomend it. (I almost wish i'd worn it to my prom).

Well, some themes seem to limit creativity. How about The Outer Limits--where they can come as an extraodinary creature, person, etc. from those shows--or based on the shows' concepts?

I agree. Heaven and Hell seems like it could spawn (no pun intended!) some fun interpretations.

Ackk!! I always figured that Halloween was a sufficient party theme alone. It's hard enough to come up with a costume without adding an additional theme constraint.

I hosted a Halloween party once with assigned costumes. . . It was mostly couples coming, and the ones that weren't were friendly, and it was almost the right number, so the women came as the 7 deadly sins and the men came as the 7 fruits of the spirit, with the couples matched up. Love 7 Lust came together, Peace & Wrath, etc. We had one "extra" guy hear about it and ask if he could come at the last minute, so we said sure and asked him to dress up as God. He came dressed as George Burns. It was a lot of fun, seeing how people interpreted it. Not, obviously, something you can do in most situations, but it worked out pretty well.

I had a huge Halloween party one year, and called it a "Come as you Aren't" party. It was a lot of fun. I even made a bunch of those Halloween themed snacks.
I have a really realistic set of fangs that you stick on over your canines, so I went as a vampire. I used a bit of white make-up, but just enough to look unnaturally pale and did the perm-for-a-day hair. Eeven had a fairly subtle latex neck wound. I wore a long, form fitting but drapey black dress.
People asked me why I didn't wear a costume. O_O Meh. I guess there is such a thing as too subtle, but at least i looked hot.
We used to do it every year, but we haven't since we've been in Georgia.
