So... at 10, I'm going to go and get injected with some sort of poison. Then at 12:30, after it's had time to perfuse my body, they're going to use some sort of nuclear imaging stuff to scan me.
It just occurred to me that I could have looked it up on the web to see what all they're going to do, but since I don't intend to do that now either, I guess it must have been intentional.
So... that elevator accident I had back in August... well, the MRI showed a bulging disc in my spine, and the neurologist figured the pain in my leg was because of that. Since a leg x-ray showed nothing.
He sent me for physical therapy and told me to go to this orthopedist after 2 weeks of PT. The orthopod had this radical notion that the pain in my leg might actually -- wait for it -- be coming from my leg.
I told him that was probably publishable.
Pain makes me snarky.
Strike that; I'm just snarky by nature. Pain only makes it worse.
So he told me that if there was a fracture (compression or whatever) in my tibia, more often than not, it wouldn't show up on a regular x-ray. So he took another x-ray just to be sure, and wrote me a thing for a bone scan.
My physical therapist, who is wonderful, called me a few hours after the appointment to see how it went. When I told her that it might be a fracture, she was horrified. 'Cause some of the stuff (not most, but some) that she had me do wasn't a good idea with a fracture. Heh.
I really should look it up, just to see if the poison (I'm guessing something inorganic; metallic, maybe) is going to make me nauseated.

I thought of all sorts of comments I could make about nuclear scans just to freak you out. It was very tempting. But I held back, just in case you weren't in the mood for them. *pats self on back*

Main thing is not to freak out when ya burst into flames, turn invisible, or some such thing. Just a normal side-effect triggering your latent mutant powers.

And I asked them about powers, too. No luck there, either. What's the point of having radioactive calcium running through your veins if you can't... I don't know, cure heartburn or build strong bones, or something?
But on the DMV issue, I have the honor of announcing to all and sundry that I have abandoned my life of crime at last. I am a non-felon. Since the first appointment was at 10, and there was a center near the hospital that started testing at 8:30, I figured I'd drop by and give the system another chance. They got it right this time, and I'm not the proud owner of a license, through which the state of Illinois recognizes my innate right to operate a motor vehicle. They probably wouldn't put it that way, but what the heck.
It was cool driving around thinking that if I were to get pulled over, I'd just get a ticket, rather than a vacation behind bars. Though I figure if I was able to drive well enough for the past 14 months to avoid doing jail time, I might as well try for a record.
