Sasha (my 5 year old boy) has discovered two things recently, space ships and girls. He likes the one and not the other, with exceptions.

He will grow up to be a punner like his old man, but he doesn't realize it yet. He was yelling, "Hurry, get in the space ship. Get in the space ship." So I went into the bathroom with him, to brush his teeth. Before we could brush, however, he started making take off noises.

"Where are we going" asked Momma, who was in the room already, getting ready for work.

"Silver Dollar City." he said as his space ship took off.

"How about to Mars?" I asked.

He looked at me for a moment, then said, "OK, we can to there today and To-Mars-ow too." I almost got tooth paste all over the room.

.

He is growing to grow up to be a danger to women everywhere. This is the age when little boys are supposed to not like little girls, and Sasha adamantly states "I don't like girls....except for Mrs. Wasserman...and Cloe (her daughter)...and Maria...and Caroline........."

Make sure to teach him that Santa Clause is actually a Russian.

Other then that, yeah he's adorable.

Y'know I'm beginning to think innocence is a far better wisedom then experiance could ever be.

I have never ever met such a witty five year old. Most of the jokes I hear run along the lines of "Why did the chicken cross the road? BECAUSE OF THE LOLLIPOP!!!" And then insane giggling.

Oh, goodness, once they get started on the puns, it never ends...

My brother's first pun was when he was 14 months old.

My mom was putting his shoes on at the babysitter's (where we all spoke Spanish because her English wasn't good) and was trying to get him to say, "zapatos."

He couldn't say the "z." So he said, "Patos. Patos."

Then he looked at my mom, grinned, pointed at his shoes, and said, "Quack, quack." ("Pato" is duck in Spanish.)

He hasn't stopped punning since.

One of the kids I worked with as a pre-school teacher told me this one (he was 4) :
Q. "Why was Tigger leaning into the toilet?"
A. "He was looking for Pooh!"

I was hysterical!
