Shortly after Boo was born, I got a package in the mail from dkw and Bob. Inside the duct-tape sealed Amazon box was the Very Awesome baby quilt.

It's a big quilt, certainly big enough to completely cover Boo's crib mattress with plenty left over.

The quilt has had many adventures. For months, it spent every night keeping my legs warm while I held a crying, colicky Boo. It's been on many, many car rides. It has a bedtime companion every night, and has been washed so many times it's softer than my favorite t-shirt.

I don't remember if I ever said thank you, Dana and Bob. Even if I did, thank you again. You've given my son something he will treasure for a long time, and will want to pass down to his own children someday. Thank you.

[Big Grin] That is a rare item -- one of 3 quilts that I've ever actually finished.

I love piecing quilts and have blocks and partially finished blocks all over the house. But not so much with the actual quilting part. I finally gave in and sent Bob's engagment present quilt away to be professionally machine quilted.

I'm glad yours is being enjoyed.

Rare as in, we should hang it up and save it for posterity? Boo would be so sad. [Frown]

[Wink]

I really just wanted to tell you how much he loves it. It's been with him everywhere he's gone since he got it, and he refuses to sleep without it (though sometimes he uses it as a pillow instead of a blanket). My sister calls him Linus. [Smile]

Linus? I assume it's not a reference to the programmer, but I can't think of any other Linuses. [Confused]

It's a Peanuts reference KOM. And this is such a nice thread to happen upon tonight. I used to have a blanket I liked. It wasn't anything anybody made me though. These days I have a hand sewn Mexican blanket that I sleep under. It's not a security blanket, but it does bring back some good memories from when I work out west about 9 years ago.

Especially when she plays "Waltzing Matilda" when you wind her up. [Smile] I was given her at age 1 1/2 months. I repaired her and passed her on to the Princess. There's a pic on Foobonic. [Smile]
