I just wanted to let y'all know that today is Prematurity Awareness Day. This is something that is very dear to my heart and it's very important to me to spread the word about prematurity. Please take a few minutes to visit the March of Dimes site.

I did a lot of research on prematurity when I was pregnant because of course, twins are at high risk for being born premature.
I visited the NICU, and I was completely, totally amazed at the wonderful job the doctors and nurses did with those precious tiny ones.

Emma and I are wearing pink shirts (I dragged out my one and only pinkish shirt!) and blue jeans and blue socks today.

Belle, it seems like every set of twins in Richmond has passed through the NICU or the PCN. On the other hand, all of the twins I know personally have been term and perfectly healthy.
kq, I'll bet you and Emma look great. I'm mailing your package tomorrow (finally).

I have two students with babies in the NICU and we (my students and I) have spent this month educating other students in our school about prematurity. It culminated today with a wonderful guest speaker talking to the whole school. I have my pink and blue ribbon on
Edit: PS- Mrs M- I am amazed by the wonderful progress Aerin has made!

Thanks, Coccinelle, for all of your efforts! I just went through Aerin's photo album and it's hard to believe she was so tiny and compromised.

One of my girls found out yesterday that her baby will be home the day before thanksgiving. He's six months old tomorrow. We all rejoiced together with her today.

It's amazing, and sort of sad, how many people were preemies. It's fantastic that they have grown up into such cool people, but it's a shame that they had to have such a rough start to life.

My niece is really cool. This is the second year she's doing NaNoWriMo with me. She loves writing stories and she wants to be published. She wants to make a career out of writing novels. When she isn't an English teacher, that is.
And she has hot pink hair.
Yep, she takes after me. *beats chest*
