*munch munch*
Here is AoD reporting again, but this time it is to tell TomDavidson the following:

Dude, you rock, I just got my gift. Those *munch munch*-es up there, that is me eating strawberry Pocky. As soon as I saw the cover of Angel Cage, I gave such a cry of joy that I even jumped. You are awesome, therefore I have created this thread in your name.

Everyone! All hail TomDavidson's bodacious awesomeness!!!!

Yes....I'm that happy. Merry Christmas dude, your beloved A to the D.

Mmmmmm.... Pocky..... [/Homer]

It's a Japanese chocolate-covered pretzel stick.

The box says Pocky is, "Biscuit sticks covered with strawberry cream." That all means "yumm yumm" in Planet AoD.

It's not a pretzel stick. (That would be awesome.)

It's more like a thick cracker. Like a Cuban cracker.

(Except it's thin and cylindrical, but I'm describing the texture more than anything else.)

Pocky is great stuff. If you have an asian grocery store, you might be able to find it. Or if you're in Asia...

It's not a pretzel. That would actually be an improvement. It's more like a thick cracker. Very similar in texture to a Cuban cracker, if you've ever had one. (Except it's not actually thick--I'm just describing the texture.)

imogen, can't you just hop over to Japan and get some?

[ROFL]

I'm in Asia, and I haven't found it. [Frown] I'd like to give it a try.

I've never had a cuban cracker.

But we do have an asian grocer round the corner - I'll have a look next time I'm there. (For pocky, not for cuban crackers. I'd have to go to a cuban grocer for that. And there isn't one round the corner.)

Pocky is good stuff. They have it at World Market, if you have a store near you. World Market in general is awesome, too.

My neighborhood is thick with Asians and with Pocky. Alas, I haven't tried it. They're not kosher.

But we do have weird and tasty kosher snacks.

Bamba Snacks. Bissli.

They were pretty much a staple at the convenience stores I frequented in Thailand, and are readily available at every Asian grocery I've been to in the US. I really liked them, personally, but I never had the strawberry flavor.

Haha, I wish.

Indiana is QUITE a step down from Jerusalem, which is where I was last year. [Razz] I'm lucky to find matzah.

[Big Grin]

I love Jews! You weren't around then, but rivka sent me some lovely candy in the mail one time a few years ago... klik, and so forth. It was so sweet.

If you want to, I won't say no! [Smile] But of course, you don't have to.

I have three e-mail addresses, but yes, that one works... [Confused]

Try nini.golightly@gmail.com instead. Maybe yahoo mail doesn't like you, for some reason. (Because the e-mail address isn't Kosher, maybe... [Wink] )

When I was in Tokyo, I bought some yummy-looking pocky. Unfortunately, I was later informed that they were tea flavored and had real tea. I gave it away without trying it. [Frown]

Be glad you couldn't eat it.
Green Tea Pocky is the only flavor I don't like. In fact, it is the most repulsive food product I have ever tried from Japan.

My favorite would have to be Almond.

Now I'm craving it....

There's new Inverse or Reverse or Somethig Pocky out.
Gooey chocolate stuff on the inside, chocolate biscuit on the outside.
It was pretty good, but the texture took some getting used to.

Bamba snacks are like those puffy orange-colored cheese puff snacks, except they are not orange-colored and they are not cheese flavored. They are buff-colored and peanut flavored.

Bissli are crunchy salty snacks in different flavors. Each flavor has its own shape. There is barbecue, smoky, pizza, falafel, taco, and onion. maybe there are some other flavors that I can't remember.

Raia, someone recently asked me if there's a jewish/israeli restaraunt in Bton? It really isn't that hard to find matzah, at least they have it at Sahara Mart and Bloomingfoods year round.

Yep, Falafel's on Kirkwood. [Smile] Their pitas are fabulous, but the hummus is not that great. The rest of the food is pretty decent, but obviously, I haven't had everything.
