We're hosting New Years this year and thought a murder mystery theme'd be fun. Yes, there must be murder- it's the holidays, is it not? -grins-
Plus, dead bodies are good to have, just to have.

We've looked at the murder mystery party packages available on the web, but thought that they were both a bit childish and waaay to complex.
We're looking for easy, funny, and large enough and suitable for 18 people ages 10-50.

Would anyone like to help me write one? Or maybe you just have an idea that you'd like to share.
I'm really excited about this. [Big Grin]

I'm pretty good with mysteries for stories, but how does it work for the murder mystery party? I've never put one together, but I'd be willing to help.

I suppose it'd be to much work to make the whole evening devoted to the game, a vague theme might work better. As for the game itself, I'm not all that sure how I'm going to put it all together, but I think I've got a bit of an outline.
To start, there'll be three teams (My plot was two rival gangs (cheese!) or something similar and the police trying to figure out who dunnit. But what they done I haven't a clue. Murder works, though. I should volunteer to be the dead body, seeing as I'll probably know the outcome.) and they all would get a scrap of paper (Yep, we don't actually have full sheets.) with a clue and the answer would tell them where to look for the next clue (Is that a scavenger hunt?).
I would have liked to make one member from each group be killed off every once in a while, but I'm not sure how to do it. (Maybe do a Survivor type thing and have each team vote one person to go through the door first or something like that and if they can't..guess an clue or something quickly enough, they're dead. Or perhaps they roll a dice and if it's 3 or less, they're dead.)
Perhaps it'd be easiest as a really big board game..
I don't want it to take much more than one hour, we're lacking in the attention span department.

Anyway, like I said, I haven't got all that exciting of a plot and could use some help with details, clues, etc.
