I made bath salts for every female I know, which included all my close co-workers and 3 female relatives on my husband's side. Everyone seemed to love them. My mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and neice-in-law all got a set of lavendar and jasmine scents, and their choice of several book thongs I had made. I figured it made more sense to let them choose than me choose for them. They all seemed to really like them. I also saw an aunt-in-law, and I had some extra bath salts ready for her (there was no telling who I'd actually see while I was there--it wasn't actually Christmas day.) and she chose a book thong.

It made me feel good to give because everyone liked them so much. [Smile]

While I was there, I bought a set of gel candles for my mom. My MIL made them as I waited and told her exactly what I wanted. They're very pretty and I think they'll look good in my mom's living room.

I still have bath salts to make for the women on my side. We're not exchanging presents, but I had already planned on giving bath salts and book thongs before they decided that. And my brothers and me are all still giving mom something. [Smile]

Oh, and I'll get gifts for my two nephews later. I have no idea what! I'll see them soonish.

So I guess mine isn't over yet.

What did you give?

I gave my sister a fake book of praise and worship songs, since she's learning how to play guitar. I also made her a little popsicle stick box(it's something I used to do every CHristmas when we were little, but she got annoyed so I stopped, but heck, it's time to revive an old tradition, doncha think? [Razz] ) on the top, I painted "A Little Box of Hope" with a cross(we've been going through a really hard time recently, with family problems and stuff like that). Inside, I put 20 little rolled up Bible verses. They looked like little scrolls, it was kinda cute. SO each time she gets too stressed out, she can just open one of the little scrolls and get a bit of comfort from above. [Smile]

A fake book has simplified versions of whatever type of music it's a fake book of (e.g., showtunes, jazz classics, etc.) Different ones include different things, but most include main melody and some sort of simple harmony for piano or guitar.

I made t-shirts for my friends (They were dyed lime green, have Snap written on the front, a nickname on the back, and snaps on the collar- very cool looking).
And for my family, DVDs that I wanted but wouldn't've been able to afford after Christmas shopping. Of course, I didn't tell them that, but I made sure they were things they'd love (3rd season of Simpsons for my brother, 1st and 2nd seasons of Pretender (!!!) for my dad, Krank's New Groove for my sister, and Moulin Rouge for my mom).

I don't think this is a dobie.

I think it's a complement thread.

I like this thread. [Smile]

I love giving presents. Just as much as getting them.

I gave...
A cook-book to my Mother-in-law (It's a celebrity book, recipes from different celebrity chefs and profits go to tsunami victims) plus The Twelve Days of Christmas (Correspondence)
Spike Milligan CDs to my father-in-law
Amber earrings to my Mother (nice amber)
A jumper I knitted myself (just in time!) to my sister
A Ben Sherman shirt to my handsome little brother (big sister pride [Smile] )
An easy Madhur Jaffrey Indian cookbook for my brother-in-law who is just starting to cook more, and loves curry
Some great, 500 count sheets (thanks Amazon!) to my sister-in-law who lost all her sheets courtesy of Katrina
A food history book for my Father, who loves to cook
An Australian calender & Australian bush spices for my brother-in-law's girlfriend, who is visiting us from Pittsburgh (meeting the relatives for the first time!)
And...
Aftershave for Tony (so I got to pick what I liked [Smile] ) and a little iron ore penguin to greet him when he comes back from Antarctica.

I meant to have scarves ready for my Mother & Mother-in-law, but it didn't happen.

I think they will just be random gifts through the year. [Smile]

Jewelry (handmade) and books (machine made).

Anyone who wants anything more exotic really needs to give me a request with a couple of months lead time. Imaginative giving is not my strong suit.

Hmmm, I gave the gift of calling my grandparents. I'm serious. I used to get phone cards in the mail on Christmas as a hint to call my grandparents more often. That's about it. At the moment I can't really afford too much anyway.

Everyone in my family got one of these pics of my little girl and my nephew.

And I made fudge and handmade reindeer ornaments out of old fashioned clothes pins.

To my Mother: I gave my Mom that Celtic Women cd that was advertised on PBS.

To my Father: I gave my Dad the 2-disc Special Edition of the 1933 King Kong.

To my Brother- I gave my brother a cd of Rammstein's first album. I don't remember how to spell the name of the album, so I won't.

I gave my Dad The Complete Compleat Enchanter for christmas. He had been looking for that book for years, and he was thrilled when he opened it. [Smile]
I gave my older brother (with the help of other siblings) an Order of the Stick t-shirt. It was the one with the creature in the dark saying "Your broken corpses will taste delicious lightly seasoned with nutmeg."
I gave one of my younger brothers The Book of Bunny Suicides. I knew he liked it when he let out an evil laugh when he opened it. [Wink]

I gave mostly handknit hats and scarves, but also hand dyed silk scarves, those were fun. I also gave knitting needles and yarn to several people. It was a fun gift giving year.

Mostly entertainment items, like CD's and DVD's. I did get Kelly a nice Manning jersey (not pink, though [Frown] ) and my dad a kick-butt leather Kasey Kahne jacket. I didn't buy any jewelry at all this year, which was a nice change... I hate jewelry stores.

Gave my parents Guesstures, some of their favorite mints, Firefly, and Shadow of the Hegemon.

Gave my cousins some knick-knacks that should serve them well in college.

Gave the rest of that side of my family the gift of actually being there for Christmas (first time since 2001).

My parents, cousins, aunt and I went to serve lunch at the local homeless shelter / mission for Christmas lunch / dinner.
