Why does it say "Member" below each user's name in any thread? right below that it says "Member#..." and i understand that part. dont you have to be a member to even post a reply? so why show that the person is just a Member?

My guess is that the ultimatebb platform that this forum is built on allows for guests (which hatrack does not), as well as admins and mods(which hatrack does).
So there are three things it can say besides "member".

I'm reasonably sure its after 5 posts the New Member status gives way to Member. I'm not 100% positive, but I seem to remember it that way.

Each registered member has a title that reflects his or her "rank" on this board. Administrators are given the title "Administrator". Moderators are given the title "Moderator". Some members are given special titles by the administration. All other users are given their titles based on the number of posts they have made: Posts Title 0 New Member 5 Member
