Once again, in my naive stage of youth i turn to hatrack for guidance. I'm trying to come up with a way to ask a girl to the Winter Formal dance at my high school. Was anyone asked to a highschool dance using a creative method? How did said method go over with you?
Any ideas would be appreciated 100% Thank you for anything you can think of.

About 20 days. My three other guy friends are all asking tommorow or the next day.. so i think im ok there.

Never mind creative, just ask. That way if she turns you down, you haven't invested a lot of time in it and can go on to the next.

What's the weather like out there? Do you have snow? Because I once asked someone out by writing a message on a slate, which was in turn "held" by a snowman I constructed on the hood of her car.

Yeah. it was a nickname i donned a long time ago. i even have a 400 dollar titanium and gold ring engraved with the word L4NF34R on it... its on my hand right now

You could plaster her door with paper roses and a note asking her to the dance. I knew a guy who did that.
Of course, I would have been happier if a guy had just got up the nerve to walk up and ask me, politely and sincerely, while looking me in the eye.

does she have a car? fill it with balloons and leave a note at the bottom. Be on hand when she finds it.
If I proceed to recall all 11 books of the so-far-Wheel of Time, the name Lanfear is pretty femenine. But I'll give you this, it is a pretty angrogynous name, if I think about it objectively. Also, it takes serious...well...balls for a guy in highschool to assume a woman's monicker. I couldn't have back then.

I had a friend who put his message on cardstock, cut it up in little puzzle pieces and send it to her in an envelope.
Then of course the girl has to come up with a creative way to answer....
(I never ran across this here in Florida. It was only after I moved to Utah that I saw more effort going into asking and answering than into the date!)

I'm okay with being creative, but I'd lean more towards spontaneous creative and not over-the-top creative.
Asking a girl to the dance that you're sure will say yes is not that big a deal, and you don't want to go way overboard with it.

Since it's a winter formal, get a small flat bottomed container and put 1/4 inch of water in the bottom and freeze it. While it's freezing, take some card stock that will fit the pan leaving a nice margin and write her name on it in large letters. On the back write your invitation. Be fun if it's just a friendly date, or be more romantic, if that's your intent. Laminate the card, or alternatively seal it in a clear waterproof baggie. Place it name-side down on the frozen 1/4 inch of ice in your pan and cover with water. Weight it down with a small rock, if you have to. Freeze the whole thing solid. Now make a small pouch of de-icing salt and tie it with a nice ribbon. Present the pouch of de-icer and the brick of ice with your invitation frozen into it to her, name-side up.
Takes a bit of work, but I guarantee you no one else will get an invitation in this manner.
If you're not afraid of being corny, make the invitation something like, "You make me melt. Please come with me to the Winter Formal." Posts: 6394 | Registered: Dec 1999

And make sure there's no Krums around . . .
If it's with romantic intent, then do something simple but romantic. Write it on a ribbon and tie it around a rose, then have someone leave it on her desk in one of her classes. Something like that.
Even if she doesn't want to, getting the rose'll certainly brighten up her day.
