I have a migraine. It's not the worst I've ever had but it's making it hard to think/move/etc. I'm moving at about half speed both mentally and physically.

And I'm stuck at work.

My boss took the day off so I can't just go home and I'm doing his work and mine too today (thankfully it's relatively quiet so far *knock on simulated wood grain*)

*WAH!*

To top it all off everything is a song today. Any topic that comes up will play a musical track in my head.

*peers at clock* 5 and a half hours till I can go home.. and do laundry...

I'm sorry. I have a friend who is a massage therapist and had a migraine for about a week. She told me "All I wanted to do was push those clients off the table and curl up there myself!"

Pix, have you found anything that works for your migraines yet? I recall you said Zomig doesn't help you. How about Immitrex? I really feel for you....working with a migraine is an exercise in futility. When I have a migraine, I always feel like I'm in a black and white movie. The world is gray. Sounds are too loud. Lights are too bright. Smells are too sharp. I'll knock on some wood for your day to stay slow so you can endure the day to get home and go to bed.

Stephan: Thank you, that made me laugh (which of course, hurt)

Dag: Got to. Don't want to be like that scene in Terminator "I know... Laundry day tomorrow! Nothin' clean!"

Jeni: It's Imitrex that (sorta) works, but gives me heart palptations. I'm kinda scared to try Zomig.

I'm treating it with cafiene and advil like I usually do. That takes the edge off (sorta.) but I still feel stupid, it's hard to concentrate, Light and Loud hurt, everything is out of focus. And for some reason I'm really hot. (But I *THINK* it's really hot up here and it's not just me.)

Thanks for listening to me complain, guys. Especially when there are people here who have much more of a reason to complain.

Ugh, I hate trying to concentrate with a migraine. It's like my brain is wading through molasses. Things just don't register with me until half a second afterward.

I hope you feel better. Migraines are evil.

...about nothing and everything that I want. I am one of those melodramatic fools, neurotic to the core -- no doubt about it!

[Wink]

Was that an intentional allusion?

Also, I had my first migraine ever last night. I went to the hospital wondering why my peripheral vision was blurry and by the time I saw the doctor I had a splitting headache. They fed me a pill and put me to bed and I felt better (though still sore) about an hour later, so I went home and went to bed for real. I hope that was the last migraine I'll ever have, because they suck.

twinky: Everything's a song lyric today. This is NOT a usual symptom of my migraines. So yes, it was diliberate.

I'm sorry you had a migraine. It would be nice if no one ever had these things. =(

Pix, I haven't tried Imetrex, so I can't compare notes there, but I use Zomig and the only side effect I have is a little light-headedness (and an incessant need to sing its praises, which I think has more to do with 10 years without migraine treatment). No heart palpatations. I don't like taking them just because they're so expensive, but they put color back in the world and keep me from killing anyone.

Barring access to Zomig, sometimes a couple of tylenol and 12oz. of coke, chased by two tall glasses of water at close to room temperature help me. Along with wearing sunglasses. And making sure that my stomach always has food in it (ie. snacking constantly on stuff that doesn't have migraine triggers in it. No chocolate. Usually salty, crunchy things, but I think that's because it's a comfort food texture for me). Food is a good pain buffer, even physical pain. Advil Migraine sometimes helps, but Tylenol tends to be more consistently effective.

It's true that there are lots of people worse off, but that doesn't make your pain feel any less painful. I'd urge you to at least try Zomig...get a two pill trial pack from your doc.

Anyway...two and a half hours til 5. (((Pix))) Does your sense of smell get whacked out too?

It's almost time for my anual. I'll ask my doc about Zomig. God it would be so wonderful if that worked.

The only person I want to kill when I have a migraine is myself. I'm not sure what's worse about it, the pain or the fact I am a completely useless human being for the 24 or so hours they last (plus the migraine haze that lasts for hours afterwards).

Eating helps, yes, even if I have nausea. But constant eating frequently gives me another migraine (and makes me even heavier =/

Yes, my sense of smell gets whacked sometimes.. Things that normally smell good become painful, especially if they're spicy or pungent.

anyway, it's 1 hour and 25 minutes till 4:15 (I get in at 7:15) and then I'll be able to go home. yay.
