If I may address the high and mighty Court?

O, ye friends, there is no need of the setting up of hierarchies, nor the superflous mega-posting and multi-thread-starting. Just enjoy the place. That's what it's here for.

And may I suggest bumping up some old threads after you read them, just to startle the old-timers a little bit? We get all freaked out when you try to fit in, and freaking out the elders is kinda fun.

[Big Grin]

PS: El JT, I'll send you an email re: the password for the fake name in just a bit. You should have control of it.

Although I wouldn't mind you having it, that way if I start to act like an @$$, I could be corrected by myself.

Talk about freaking out the establishment.

Seriously. You keep talking about all these times you tried to pick a fight with me, and I really DO believe you -- I take you completely at your word on that -- but I have no memory of ever being irritated by one of your early posts, even though I'm pretty sure I read them. [Smile]

Aw... [Smile] I wish I could remember what any of them were about, but mostly I remember sitting at my computer in my apartment and my roommate asking, "Katie, what are you doing?" "I'm trying to make someone mad. I'm very clever."

Oh, the shame. [Blushing] Not the trying to make someone mad part - the part where I thought I was clever. Thank heavens those posts are long gone now. I believe there was mention of prom queens.

Hey, oldtimers, this thread does strike me as rather fast growing. Does it rank anywhere in the fastest growing threads, regardless of topic?

The fastest I remember was a teen angst thread about 6 months ago.

I think it went to 7 pages in an afternoon.

There was also one other really fast one a few months ago, but I'm not saying anything else about that one.

It's not quantity, it's quality. I don't think a thread I've started here has ever gone beyond 2 pages.

The "Hatrack Singles Bar" thread went to 12 pages in a little under 10 hours...I believe we all (yes, even you there, shaking your head) agreed it was a record at the time. Close behind was the "Good......OSC" thread, with 11 pages in half a day.

Can't say I've ever started another thread that went over four or five, though.

And, for the record, I thought CT was me, too. I was beginning to wonder how much I had to drink last night.

Okay, the other teen angst thread I was thinking of went 4 pages in an afternoon, and 5 inside of 12 hours. Still pretty good.

Stupid mental exaggerations. Don't ask me how much I used to bench, or how far I used to walk to school -- no telling what kind of answer you'll get.

It's not how far you walked to school that counts, it's how steep the mountain was and how many yards of snow you walked through. Barefoot.

Yeah, but in this case, I think the clue is that the font used on the forum makes it difficult to discern between "Capital i" and "Lowercase L".

This thread should be the plot for Total Recall 2.

A man named Advent goes to one of those memory vacation centers and they implant the memory of him joining congress, and then having to overthrow the established government who in reality is Advent's father, a former janitor at a furniture store that specialized in making hatracks.

Madness ensues and eventually he loses his grip on reality, not knowing if he really is in congress, or is merely the son of a janitor, but eventually all the workers at the hatrack maker's shop prevail on him the reality of his situation and he escapes the memory world to return to sanity at the furniture shop.

So can we please let this thread die?

Reticulum can delete this thread, since he started it.

Go to the original post, click on the little "edit post" icon, and click the box next to "Delete Post?".

Now, some people get really annoyed when you delete a whole thread that way. But I'm not so sure they'll be too terribly upset to see this one go....
