Okay so I'm asked to help with moving a water heater (it is our neighbours, its old they dont need it so they say we can take it) so we go there, and turns out its too heavy for either one of us, me or my dad to lift and so we decide to go home and try again when he has more time cuz' he has to goto Ottowa for an errand.

However my dad gets in a fight with my mom because my mom had phoned him on his cell phone and asked to speak with me (she lost a CD and wanted to ask me) but he hangs up and we go home.

And the fight starts and he exclaims "We could've done and finished moving the water heater by now!"

BUT! We couldn't have its too heavy for us to move, there are no handles to pick it up from thus you lied.

Argh!

I fail to see the point of this thread. Beyond your usual "I'm the most important person in the universe" pandering.

Which, I think we've discussed, is not exactly endearing or respectful.

Quick clarification, when he made that statement, was your dad talking to you, or your mom?

either way, sounds like your parents have quite the...shall we say history?

It's never fun having your parents fight. Sorry, Blayne.

He was talking to my mom, he's lying because I was there when we were trying to move the water heater and we couldn't move it.

No matter how much time we may have used we would never have been able to use it.

Spang if you have an issue email me, blayne.bradley@gmail.com, I'm sick and tired of things like the "Blayne Go Away" threads.

I don't want you to go away. I just want you to realize that your self-centered attention whoring is what's responsible for people wanting you to go away. I'm not emailing you, because I've explained to you the problems I have with your posting style about 6 times, and I've witnessed another half dozen people explain it to you as well. I know you're smart enough to understand why your insistence on using this forum as your personal 'Look at me!' is offensive and really aggravating, so I can only assume that you don't care about community, respect, and common decency.

You know, JT, Blayne's topic seems to be pretty much the same type of thing that's posted in the "Right off!" thread over on Mike's forum, and I don't remember you complaining about that. Is it just that Blayne started a topic about it that annoys you?

Yes, but it's a forum. If you don't care about responses, or plan on only talking about yourself, get a blog. Can't get the traffic? Be more interesting.

There's a limited amount of space on the frontpage here, and you routinely have 3-5 threads sucking up real estate and bumping things that people may be interested in.

For example, this extremely frivolous thread would fit perfectly with your only slightly less frivolous thread from a week ago about how your parents don't like you. Bump it. No need to start yet another thread about how misunderstood you are. This thread doesn't ask any questions, or start any discussions, or present any useful information. By any definition it's an utterly vapid and self-indulgent thread, and it only serves to further the image of you as a needy preteen (which I know you don't like). Your refusal to go along only affirms everyone's impressions, and then you complain about how you're sick of hearing "Blayne, go away!". But whose fault is it, really?

It's partly because Blayne started it that annoys me, because he has a tendency to talk loudly in the center of the room without caring if anyone is listening (metaphorically, and paraphrased from sL). I held my tongue last week when he had 5 threads under two SNs in the top half of the frontpage, but this could have easily gone inside one of those threads (as I mentioned).

If someone started a new thread for every "Right On" or "Right Off" at Mike's, I'd be even more annoyed. That's the point of the perpetual threads, that they prevent exactly this type of thread. Everyone has little things they want to share throughout the day, and most of them aren't worth starting a thread about. The perpetual threads give you an option between "swallow it" and "attention whore".

Of course, getting into a discussion over the worth of threads is a different can of worms entirely. Who decides what's worth a new thread? Why shouldn't anyone be able to start a thread for any reason they see fit? After all, if it's not interesting it'll fall off the page of its own accord, right?

Blayne, it is rough when your folks fight, especially when they put you in the middle of it. It is the kind of thing that not only degrades them, but also attempts to hurt you. And it is rough when you feel as if you can not respect your parents. Because, after all, I think we all wish that we had parents that we can respect.

If you want to vent someplace, I don't see why Hatrack can't be a safe place for you to blow off steam. So, I'm OK with it.

I also agree with you that if some folk feel that you are out of line, better to address it with you via email than by further degrading you on the forum.

There are plenty of threads (well, not plenty, but I'm sure that there have been one or two) that I ignore and don't post on, just because I would have nothing to contribute but an insult.

Insulting someone who is hurting and coming to us for support is not cool.

<offers cyber-shoulder for Blayne to lean on>

It sounds as if you are chafing under your home conditions. You say you are, what, 18? Perhaps it is time to go out into the world and seek your fortune.

Really wish you wouldn't.

Why don't you make one thread, call it "Blayne's complaints about everything", and consolidate all of your threads into that one? What you're doing is like spam. It's incredibly disrespectful of this forum.

In fact, let me help you out. Here. It's all yours.

Lisa, if that's the way you feel, why did you start another "James Hogan is eccentric and disappointing" thread? Couldn't you have bumped your old thread?

You even went so far as to post a rude thread for someone else "so that he doesn't have to go to the trouble of starting a new topic every time he stubs his toe" the day after you started your second "Hogan sucks" thread. [Dont Know]

I don't really care, Lisa, but you come across a little silly on this point, if you ask me.

There was no old thread. Why would you make up something like that? It's not as though it can't be checked by anyone who wants.

I posted one thing, last December 15, mentioning Hogan's nuttiness. Way back in November, I started a thread to discuss some of the things in his book Kicking the Sacred Cow.

I don't imagine that you'll apologize for lying about what I've posted, because someone who lies like that is generally not the kind of person who would apologize for it. You certainly picked an appropriate thread to do it in, though. Title-wise, I mean.

2 things.

1: I know the feeling Blayne. Having to sit back and say nothing while someone lies. Of course, you don't have to sit back. But in my experience, when its someone you respect doing the lying, you don't feel like correcting them. Especially parents. I've seen it happen a LOT. Pastors too. Friends, family, leaders, idiots ... why must we all lie?

and 2: Why do people still persist on ragging on Blayne? Over the past month or so people have made his faults abundantly clear to him, and have also said how they would fix them. If you don't have anything new to add to the "Lets fix Blayne" bandwagon, mayhap you could all just ... let it lie.

And disclaimer: You have every right to post your corrections of Blayne as Blayne does to post his inane ramblings ... but then I have every right to ask you to stop just as you ask Blayne.

I don't get it either. He's gotten to be something like the Hatrack whipping boy. I'm not comfortable with the ganging up and bullying of Blayne.

If you don't like his threads, well, duh, don't open them.

I get annoyed by some of his threads as well, but that is only to be expected, I don't have a lot in common with him so I don't feel connected to him or to his problems most of the time.

He is also very intent on getting attention, even if it is the wrong type of attention.....

But I don't start a thread just ragging on him, because that isn't what I want Hatrack to be, either.

I think some people here need to worry a little less about BB and more about their own behavior at times. Just because someone annoys you doesn't mean you should single them out like this.

I will say this though....a little less of these type of threads would go a long way, I think. If he chimes in on a subject I am discussing with others, then I will comment on that, but it seems a little hurtful to continue on as some people have been, starting threads just to make him unconfortable.

He HAS brought a lot of this on himself, to be honest, but it has gone on long enoguh, IMO.

I have to agree with the "Let's not rag on Blayne" group. Heck, I remember my posts about my boyfriend problems, and I'm sure those were a heck of a lot more annoying than Blayne's posts... but no one was raggin on me.(Well, maybe a few, but those were easily ignored).

Some people, like Tante, have a gift for posting really often. Some, like me, don't. It's all a matter of what relevance what you're saying has to other people on the forum. A few posts that have to relevance to others are okay, but you have to remember not to overdo it.

*actually, I opened this thread because I thought it was about the Jim Carrey movie. heehee.*

The funny thing is, I think Blayne's threads often times bring up interesting points, though in incredibly roundabout ways. This whole lying issue really strikes a chord with me. The realization that everybody lies was one of the things that I see as ushering me into 'the world'. Since I came to that realization, I have tried my absolute hardest never to lie, but even with that concious decision I still am guilty of the type of lies Blayne mentioned. They just come out so easy. I suppose it has something to do with placing the blame. But I hate it. I hate it in myself most of all, but also in others. But then, I can't call others down on it when I struggle with it myself.

Is there anyone out there who doesn't struggle with spur-of-the-moment lying?

For me, realizing that some people (that I have known for a long time) simply do not say things to convey information, but for other purposes (like conveying mis-information), took a long time.

It is frustrating when someone you respect, or want to respect, lies. It's something to recognize, though.

Lisa, don't call me a liar because I was mistaken after asking you a simple question about a thread you may have started. I asked if you had started the earlier Hogan thread. You said yes. Now you say there is no thread. Pick a story and stick with it. Also, I didn't ask to get you on this thread, I was just curious. After you accused Blayne of spamming it just made sense to bring it up.

There was no previous thread about his anti-semitic nuttiness. You need to work on your reading comprehension.

Lisa, there is a difference between a lie and a mistake. If I was mistaken, it's based on your response that, yes, it was you that started the previous Hogan thread. I never said it was about his alleged anti-Semitism, I said it was a "James Hogan is eccentric and disappointing" thread.

I didn't "invent a thread", that's absurd. Feel free to start a different thread whining about each of Hogan's many eccentricities, just don't turn around and lambaste Blayne for starting unneccesary threads.

I'm starting to see why you are disliked by many here. Carry on the rest of this argument yourself, I'm done with it.

Whether that was said sarcastically or not, I agree. Eternal Sunshine is a Charlie Kaufman movie in which Jim Carrey is the male lead. Examples of Jim Carrey movies would be The Mask, Ace Ventura, Cable Guy, etc. etc. where the sole purpose of the movie is to watch Jim Carrey act crazy.
