Blayne can't keep his vassals loyal! Nyah! Ye gods, imagine losing a third of France in five years of play.

Yeah, I'm not sure what we're talking about, but anyone who still says Nyah Nyah after the age of 10, gets major props in my book.

But really we must ask ourselves, is victory desireable if it requires the loyalty of the French?

It's entirely possible that America wouldn't here today if not for the loyalty of its French allies.

I would think we definitely wouldn't be here if it weren't for French support during the Revolutionary War.
However I couldn't help but feel betrayed when they refused to support us in the Iraq War. The entire attitude Europe has towards American's, the unmitigated and unfounded hatred, just makes me feel like they're being a little ungrateful, but it’s not fair to judge the people on the decisions made by their governments and media.

Okay, there was no reason for my vassals to do that! And I'm trying to figure out how to lower my bad boy. I was at "rather bad" for like 3 years and nothing happened it wouldn't change.

They're French: not even deGaulle could get 2/3rds to support him. Just be glad ya don't hafta deal with keeping vassals in America, where 50% would be a landslide of support.

I was actually pretty relieved that France (and most of Europe) didn't support the war in Iraq.
And, as we've seen even on Hatrack, there's a lot of anti-France feelings - even if only jokingly. So complaining about Europe disliking America isn't much different from complaining about America disliking Europe. Hm, I put that rather awkwardly, but you know what I mean.

Anyone know where the Statue of Liberty came from? Or where the design for the White House came from?

Anyone know where that whole 'France not speaking German' thing came from? It certainly wasn't France.
I like busting on France the same way I like busting on other countries (even mine), maybe a little bit more, but this tit for tat nonsense gets pretty tiresome.

Sorry for the tit-for-tat. I'm from the UK, so France is like our brother. Thus we're allowed to fight with them, as we have been for some thousands of years, but when someone else has a go at our brother, we feel the need to stand up for them.
As for the language issue... the French government has gone way too far there. Going well beyond an official state language, they actually have federal laws prescribing the amount of non-French language music allowed on the radio. I'd prefer the US system of having one language for government, but not having an official state language, allowing the people to choose their own language.

I just love it when people say, "if it wasn't for MY country, the allies would have lost WWII."

I'm in Bill Hicks' camp - I'm get worried when people attach more importance to the country their parents copulated in, to their own views...

are you guys really trying to have a serious political discussion in a thread titled "nyah nyah nyah"?

Sorry, to clarify what I was trying to say: Some people say that America hates Europe and some people say that that isn't so, they say that it is Europe that hates America.
My point was that there is anger (and happiness!) coming from both sides and the idea that one side dislikes the other significantly more than the other side does is false.
I don't think it's very confusing, but I guess that writing "you know what I mean" is probably asking for someone to say they don't.

Well, why should a derail not go in the direction of seriousness for once?
Anyway, Blayne, your vassal had a perfectly good reason for that rebellion : To wit, your badboy wa in the range of 6 or 7 percent loyalty loss monthly. (You can check this by looking at one of your vassals and hovering the cursor over his loyalty.) You really ought not to make claims here, there, and everywhere; it makes your Dukes nervous. And the reason they are Dukes in the first place is that they have large armies.

The USA takes a bigger shellacking than France ever did, so I'm not terribly concerned about it.

You can't possibly love it as much as I love it when people say, "If it weren't for France, you'd never have won the American Revolution."
