Has anyone heard David Gilmour's new album On an Island? It's only his third solo album, and I didn't even know it had come out until I went to the NPR All Songs Considered website.
As someone who was pretty disappointed with The Division Bell, this isn't something I've been exactly holding my breath for. But the host of All Songs Considered calls this album Gilmour's best work since The Wall. All Music Gude, on the other hand, only gives the album 3.5 stars (although their ratings can be pretty arbitrary, sometimes not even matching their own written reviews). And although I'm not one to buy an album based on guest stars, he has managed to get Richard Wright, David Crosby, Graham Nash and even Willie Nelson (among others) to come into the studio with him.
Anyway, I don't know if all this is enough to sell me on the album, but it's jolly interesting. Just wondering if anyone here has heard it.
