I went snowboarding today and just before the end of the day i fell trying to throw a snow ball beyond me at my friend (how stupid is that?lol). after a long snow mobile ride and tedious question from the park i went to the emergence room where i found out i fractured my collar bone in three places (ouch!). the pain is quite bearable with a few vicodin, haha. anyone been through what i am going through? and tips to make life easier?
by the way sorry for bad punctuation, typing with one hand is tiring.

I smashed my collarbone up pretty well in a bike crash 6 years ago. It sucks, but you'll be feeling much better by next week, even though you won't be able to do all that much.
They can't do anything really to set the bone exactly in place other than just wait, and so you should avoid moving your arm around too much. My dad made them give me some sort of weird shoulder brace, but the doctor pretty much said it was useless.
I ended up getting better right on schedule (I kept from playing Ultimate for the summer even though by 4 weeks after the crash the collarbone was feeling fine). I had also broken my opposite wrist, so I couldn't really do much about that. Despite the wrist only being a minor fracture and the collarbone being completely broken in two places, it was the wrist that took longer to heal.
I didn't even need pain meds by three days after the crash. So, besides ruining my summer Ultimate season, it really wasn't the worst thing that could have happened.
Good luck getting better!

A friend of mine broke his wrist snowboarding. He's got a few metal pins in there now. Somehow, he managed to keep playing guitar while his arm was in a cast though. And he got codene (codine?), not valium.
