Today one of the managers of a classy nearby restaurant called and told me my job application was successful. I have to fill in a workbook, then take it in April 3rd and then do Orientation Day.

Originally I just wanted money, but this is the first one that's bothered to treat me like an actual human being, not just a potential employee, first to give me a job interview, first to get back to me by phone (after the interview), and they gave me the job! It's great.

Anyway, that was just a rant to set up something I need to ask... Wait, I need more setting up.

I'm gonna be saving now for a diving course or two, then do them, then go for Initial Training for the Navy Reserves. That'll finish late June.

Then I'm going to TAFE to do the equivalent of Year 12. (Setting up done.) I need to decide which classes to do.

I don't want to do English, I want to do Creative Writing, but still finding a way to learn essay writing. I don't want to do Maths, I want to do Calculus. I want to do Politics, if it's actually any good learning it in a class room? I want to do either Economics or Accounting, though I don't really know the difference. I want to do Drama (if I have to do a minimum amount of subjects besides Maths and English), but I can do that at a casual drama class. I want to do a class where we party like it's 1969.

Any suggestions? And yes, this thread is about 99% rant. [Big Grin] But the schooling is important. It seems sooner to me than July normally would. Plus I've failed the last two semesters of applications to Tafe. [Frown]

I'd be happy to help you, if I knew how, Cheiros. But I don't, and your thread title doesn't seem to ask for help. A lot of people don't read landmarks unless they know the author, so your title may be a turnoff.

PC, I think he was berating himself. He was disappointed that no one had responded with assistance. Which is why I suggested he change the name.

cheiros, what do you want? It sounds like you have a plan so go do it. It sounds like you're in the UK so, as for specific schooling advice I'm not sure how many people here have the requisit knowledge. For instance, whats the difference between Maths and calculus? Would 12th level Maths be pre-calc?

Economics is usually about how money works in large systems. It covers things like how supply and demand work, how environmental factors affect the value of money, how trade works, how the government affects the value of money, etc. Accounting deals more with how people keep track of their money. It usually focuses on the generally accepted rules of accounting and how to keep books. Personally, I think that economics is a more important background.

Well my economics/accounting question is answered. But I think I'll have to find an Australian forum for these kinds of questions. Though one as friendly as hatrack might be a bit of a problem.

In 1969, I got caught in a draft, and was sick for four years. If you would like to replicate that "class", you might call your friendly neighborhood Australian Air Force recruiter
