I totally thought this thread was going to be about this, and thought it was an odd choice of title. But no, it is, in fact, about lube jobs in China. Huh.

Nit:

Meineke is a muffler and brake shop, not a lube shop.

Perhaps, but this is a full-service kind of place.

Glenn, are you like me, where you can not ever forget the old Meineke ads? Some bimbo squeals "Meineke Discount Mufflers Shatters Prices!" and swings a sledgehammer into a mirror. CRASH!

According to Rivka's link, the Meineke spokesman is George Foreman, but I can't forget the bimbo. And when I hear "Meineke" some not-so-latent bimbo in my mind squeals "discount mufflers SHATTERS prices!" CRASH!

Yeah, but the ads he does are pretty awful. I wish I could forget them!

As in, "what they are most known for", I'll agree with you, but they do provide the service.

Also, JiffyLube didn't list any locations in China on their website. [Grumble]

How do you think the Chinese feel about it!

Yes, I do remember the ads, but I used to work at Midas, and Meineke was just around the corner. I was pretty well aware of the differences in services offered at the time, such as the fact that Midas used factory bent pipes, and Meineke mostly just stocked straight pipe and bent it to the correct shape as needed. For a normal installation, ours usually fit better, but if you had a custom installation, they knew how to tweak it better.

But to the best of my knowledge, they didn't do lube jobs. I guess they've expanded their services.
