I know I've done this recently, but I couldn't help but tell a couple more stories about my little two year old nephew. He's the cutest kid I've ever seen.
And he understands jokes too!
Joke 1 We're finishing dinner and Mum pulls out a washcloth to wash Alex's face. He's started talking so we all play the naming-game with pretty much everything.
After his face is washed she says: "What's this Alex? Washer?"
Alex says "Washer!" (in the cutest two-year old voice ever)
So Mum drapes this washcloth over my head (he's not a messy eater) and says "What's this Alex?
Alex: "Washer!"
Mum takes the washcloth off my head and says: "Who's that Alex?"
Alex points at me and says "Washer!"
And ever since, whenever *anyone* says to him "Where's Kel", he instantly turns around, points directly at me and says "WASHER!" then laughs his little head off.
Even on the drive back from the snow this morning Mum calls me and after a bit of chat, asks Alex, "Do you want to talk to Kel?"
In the background I hear a little voice say "Washer!".
Joke 2 This is a *tough* little kid. He has his own petrol-driven dirt bike with training wheels. He skis. And he never. stops. running.
Anywhere.
So he's practicing his punt-kicks and is doing a pretty good job of punting them from across the room at my head where I catch them and throw them back.
Once, the ball bounces up from his hands, smacks him in the face, then rolls away. He starts to run after it, but as is the case with most small kids, notices only a second or so later that he actually copped a fair smack to the head. His hand goes up to his head and he falls to the ground face-first, hands covering his eyes and weeping piteously.
Heartbroken I race over to him and roll him over, only to see this big "gotcha!" grin as he takes his hands away so he can laugh and point at me....
And this goes on *all* day....
Love that kid... wish he was closer...

Oh, I miss the days when my baby was that toddlerish! Don't get me wrong -- my teenager is a wonderful young man -- but he never calls his uncles silly names like "Washer" anymore.

I visited my not quite 2 year niece last night. She's just learned how to jump and finds it highly exciting. She is "Boo" from Monsters Inc. They nailed her on the head with that film.

So, we had a two-year-old moment this morning.
Apparently Ems was begging her Abba for ice cream for breakfast. I heard, from the other room, "Please? Please? Please? Please? Please?" And then a very frustrated, "My said please, give now!" Posts: 21182 | Registered: Sep 2004

It ASTONISHES me, Rabbit, how accurate a character "Boo" is. Sophie was running in circles and babbling this morning, and I found myself noting the resemblance again.
