Good for you.

I never took the SAT. I wanted to go to BYU so I took the ACT. (And ended up enlisting instead of going to either a Western or Eastern college.)

Congrats! [Big Grin]

In *my* day we didn't have any of that new-fangled writing section. And we had to deal with super difficult analogies! And walk up a hill, both ways, in the snow, to get to the testing center!

But yeah - good job - those are excellent scores!

I took the SAT back in 2000, apparently since then they have revamped it significantly. Gratz on your score, even though I really cannot compare your experience to mine. I also took the ACT and it was so nice of UVSC to say that because my test was 2 weeks outside of their deadline that my scores were no longer valid.

Good job! What is that out of, 2400? When I took it there were only two sections, as others have mentioned, so a perfect score was 1600.

The first time I took the test I had stayed out until 4AM the night before, drinking heavily. I woke up late, didn't eat breakfast and forgot my calculator (I had to do all of the math problems on paper by hand). My parents weren't satisfied with the results so I had to retake it a month later. I studied for it, got lots of rest the night before, at breakfast, and remembered my calculator. I ended up only scoring 20 points higher, all of those in the English section. I actually did worse in math when I had the calculator. Apparently I can do math better than a calculator can, who knew?

Wow, that's an incredibly good score! My 1350 looks paltry in comparison, nice job!

Heh, I took the SAT a few years before it changed and now the GRE shortly before it changes.

Congratulations.

Is it out of 2400 now? I'm just glad that I got it over with before they added the writing section.

Yeah, it's out of 2400, though from what I've heard, most colleges put far less weight on the writing section because it is so new. I took the math II and the physics SAT subject tests, and I got a 790 on the math and an 800 on the physics.

I wish I could have taken it without. The writing section is the only one I missed points in (stupid essay...).

Yep. Give it 5-10 years; then we'll have sufficient stats for it to be a useful tool.
