So, I thought that one of the thread topics on the forum might present some interesting dobie opportunities. So I went googling.
My bad. Got only two hits, and I was really startled when I clicked on the first one to find myself looking at an extremely *ahem* vivid pornographic image.
So I skedaddled quickly on out of that Google search, cured (for the time being) of my urge to venture into the questionable realm of dobying--and since I know how much dobies annoy some of you, you should be grateful!
(and no, I'm not going to tell you my search terms)

I was doing a crossword puzzle once and got stuck on the clue "Asian Nurse". I knew I'd read the word many times (The Secret Garden, etc) but couldn't remember it exactly, so I googled "asian nurse". BIG mistake. Don't ever google that. What's the deal with that anyway? (don't answer that)
Anyway the word I was looking for was "amah".

The guy who started the practice now known as "dobying" (or dobie-ing). He was before my time too.
You can turn on Google's "Safe Search" by finding the "preferences" link. I use to think I was manly enough to be able to handle the raw web. But a few too many accidental clicks and I turned safe search.

human, I didn't know about "safe search," thanks.
cmc, do you know what a "dobie" is? If not, it's sort of a visual pun based on an existing thread title and including an external link--for example (a really lame example), there's a thread right now w/ the title "My life is brilliant." If I wanted to dobie that, I might start a thread titled "My wife is brilliant" and post a link to a woman dressed in glowing diamonds (yeah, I said it was lame). Some dobies are kinda funny. Lots of Hatrackers think they are all lame, and I've even seen the opinion expressed that they are mocking the original poster.

I would go so far as to say "Cedonym" is also a meme, though not nearly as prevalent of one. So, Cedrios would be a second 'racker with his own meme.
