1) Own a laptop with a video-out port. 2) Own a TV with a video-in port. 3) Connect the former to the latter using a cable.
If your laptop doesn't have a video-out port, I understand that there are USB connectors (and RGB to S-video adapters) available that do a fair job.

That thing on the sewell page looks okay and is cheap, check the links and see what stricks your eye. If you have a mac all you need is the mac and iTunes to get quality entertainment, but to hook it up to the TV you need a IEEE-1394 ready TV, which I don't know if they make yet. The usb route is the best.

Okay, I don't think my laptop has a video thingy. But my TV has one. How would I do the audio then? Would that go with the usb?
I'm asking because I want to try a subscription movie download service and cancel my pay-per-view and my extra channels, but it wouldnt' do me any good if I couldn't watch it on my tv.

I don't think I have a plug for that. I have a plug like to hook it up to a regular monitor, and headphone and microphone, and USB, and a funny looking plug on the side shaped like a little rectangle. And I think a thing that's for a memory card or something.

The USB converter would be for video only. On mine, I have to connect it to the USB and to the VGA output. For the sound, get an adaptor for the headphone output. You might need a couple of pieces: one that splits the headphone output into a couple of RCAs, and then just regular old RCA cable.

I don't want to deal with the mail. It's far too much work on a continuous basis. This way, I can just do away with dvds altogether, and I only have to wait like a minute to get my movies.

The 3.5mm end goes into the headphone jack, and the RCA ends go to the TV.
