It's funny... when I was a kid, I was bright. I mean, my IQ tested out at 150 in kindergarten (though it dropped to 135 by the time I was in 5th grade, and I don't even want to think about where it is now). And in a family of pretty bright people, they all saw me as "the brain".
My little brother's 5 year old son is showing them how it's really done now. I finally get to be just a normal member of the family. Whee!
We always knew he was smart. He memorized all the state capitols when he was 3, and it wasn't just monkey memory, either. When a friend who was quizzing him tried, "What's the capitol of East Dakota", Adam looked at him sort of sideways and said, "I don't know. What's the capitol of North Kansas?"
A couple of weeks ago, my brother showed him a game we used to play. When I was in 5th grade, they had a contest at school to see who could find the most 100 point words. Words where if you add up the letters (A=1, B=2... Z=26), you get 100. Like "elephants". So today, Adam called my brother at work to tell him that "thirty" is a 100 point word. He's been just churning away at them.
You can't imagine what a relief it is. Yay Adam!

Been feeling like I'm losing IQ points myself lately, too.

Yeah, about that. My brother called her this morning to congratulate her, and he couldn't resist asking her about that Beatles comment she made on the show last night. She said that security made her stay in the same apartment as the Beatles. Further deponent sayeth not, I guess.
