Today was the last day of my Spanish class. Which meant our final exam was at 8:30 and we had our last essay due.

And I slept through the class because I forgot to set my alarm last night! [Mad]

So after waking up and panicking for several minutes, I emailed my professor. She seems to like me and might take my essay. I emailed her a copy to show it was done, plus the grades of a couple of my classmates will be affected since they had to peer edit for me. (They did a good job too.) I don't have much hope for making up the funal though.

GAH. I hate my brain sometimes. [Frown]

Explain the situation with your teacher and beg her to give you an alternate time, possibly that day or the next to let you sit the exam. Most teachers won't do that unless notified in advance, but you have nothing to lose by trying.

Calling and emailing begging to take the exam shows initiative and she might respect that and give you either (as has been my experience) "your own personalized final exam" or "an alternative assignement to taking the final."

Best of luck to you my friend, school is a rough place.

Oh, you won't believe the begging I did.

It's just that Spanish courses tend to be pretty strict about this kind of thing because so many students take them.

I'm holding out a tiny bit of hope.

I did that once... almost. Had a 3 hour psych final at 9 am and slept until almost 11. I ran to the campus bus and got to the final exam room with 45 min to spare. The one thing that went through my head over and over was the last thing I studied: Stress makes easy tasks easier and hard tasks harder.

I just kept telling myself that I studied enough and the final should be easy. Turned out I did pretty well in the end, but my adrenaline was spent for a week.

FC, I did almost the exact same thing w/ a Classical Lit exam. Got to the classroom where the exam was and then had to go flying over to the professor's office to get a copy of the test. I've never been so out of breath in my life. I think I got a C in that class. :-(

How stressful! I did that once too.. stayed up all night studying and slept right through the final. Once I woke up I ran to her office (no hair brushing, no clothes-changing) and explained what happened. She could tell I was freaked out. She let me take the final right then.

I have discovered that most professors can portray human-like traits in this type of situation. I hope it works out for you!

I had a car accident on the way to a final exam. I pushed my wrecked car in a teacher's lot, walked in still dizzy and with powder burns from the air bag, took my exam, went downstairs and *then* called the police, two hours later.

Does that count?

Been there, I feel for you. I have over slept through or into a number of exams in my day. most of the time teachers are pretty cool about it if you were a decent student and came to class enough for them to at least recognize your face.

Good luck and I hope things pan out for the best.

Oh, that sucks! It happened to me once, too, for my mythology final. Luckily the professor liked me and was really easygoing anyway, so he let me take it the next day. I went to a really small college, too, which might make it easier for professors to be flexible like that.

Best of luck, Juxtapose!

Edit because I didn't see the good news in time. Yay for awesomely understanding professors!! [Smile]

My college let us schedule our own exams (with exeptions only for classes that had labs as part of the exam process) so I scheduled everything for the afternoon time slot whenever possible. I did it because I was always sure if I had a 9 am exam I would sleep through it.

I slept through an exam once. It was a philosophy exam, and for some reason I was terrified of the professor even though I did well in the class. The night before, I broke out in hives all over my body and was having a spastic panic attack. He let me make up the exam though, and I think I ended up with a B+. [Smile] Good luck!

I stayed up all night once cramming for a final. Then on the way to the final, I got in a car wreck (probably from lack of sleep) and missed the dang test. I showed him the ticket I got and he let me make up the test but he gave me a hard time about it. Gah! I am glad you get to make yours up Jux!
