My hubby will get this and turn the volume way up so I can hear the gunfire and clanging swords from the constant revolutions even into my sleep.

The demo shows off the pretty sweet changes to the UI, but it crashed to the desktop about 20 minutes in.

You don't need to buy it (the free account at gamespot gives you access to the rate-limited servers to download it). Or you can go to the game's forums (at www.europa-universalis.com) or even look in the comments of the demo page for mirrors of the demo.
