I figured I would create a thread for folks in Central Florida to propose get-togethers in. I can edit the subject whenever we are planning something new.
Is anybody interested in going to the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival? It's running from now until November 13. You need to get admission into the park to do this.
They set up booths all around the World Showcase, with food (appetizers & desserts: think tapas), beer, wine, and other drinks from a couple dozen countries--not just the countries actually represented with pavilions at Epcot. I really enjoy eating and drinking my way "around the world."

Alternately, since I know not all of you like Disney World, there's Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. I've never been, but Cor has and she really enjoys it. I personally loathe haunted houses and will not enter one, but IU understand that you can ride the rides as well, and that you can also purchase upgrades that let you skip the line. As with Epcot, admission is required.

I'll have to check about the Food and Wine Festival. I'm not a big fan of it, but Kristine loves it.
I have to skip HHN this year, too, although I hate that. I love HHN! I know you said you don't like haunted housed Joe, but if anyone else does, you need to go. Every year I consider getting a job out there as a scaracter, but I never do. I just don't have time these days. I should've done it years ago.
Zan, I'll go to HHH. I just won't step foot in a haunted house. I'll visit the bar while everyone else is inside.

I never would have used the word shinda, except that I was out of characters and couldn't squeeze in the name of both events.

I LOVE the idea that the word Shinda (and yes it is Latin because a sweet, but English challenged, Mexican lady originally wrote it as a mis-spelling of the word "Shindig") is becoming a term for loving and lovely people gathering to party and share their Hatrackedness.
Don't shackle the Shinda. Let it be free to roam the country and return home again to party on!

My DSL is up and running again, hopefully not away from me this time.
Jenni and I are planning to go to EPCOT this Sat night, if anyone wants to meet us there. She is working until 5:30, but we are going to Epcot and meeting at the front gate of Epcot. Kevin and Jenni's friend Heather will be meeting us there too.
Jenni has to work really early on Sunday moring, and Kevin is flying out of state early on Sunday as well, so I don't know if Jellyrolls is in the cards for after Epcot, but I am up for it, I think.
Anyone up for it this weekend?

I talked to Jenni about this, and she said we could offer our services as babysitters once and a while....while it wouldn't help much in this case ( ) it might be nice once and a while for you and Lisa to be able to get away for a few hours.
Jenni and I would want to get to know your duughters a bit first, of course, which would give us a good excuse to hang out more as well.
Jenni and I are working late tomorrow. Too bad, it would have been fun.

We kinda like the free, albeit temperamental, babysitting we get from grandpa, but I'll keep that in mind for some time when that's not possible.

*sigh* I can't tell you how upset I get when I type out a long post and it gets eaten. GAH!

I'm not doing it again. Long story short:
I'm going to Tampa on Sunday to buy Wicked tickets.
The show runs from 1/18 - 2/5. I'm leaning toward a Sunday. I will buy tickets for whatever show I can get the best seats for.
Tickets go on sale earlier in person than by phone.
If you want to go and you want me to buy your tickets, I would need money up front. I'm spending a small fortune on tickets for the whole freaking family as it is. Or you could come with me on Sunday morning.
I'm sure nobody here is interested--which is why I'm not going to retype the whole damn post--but I just thought I'd mention it.

Icky, I'm so interested, but I don't live in Florida. Honestly, you and I and Cor have to catch a show together once before I die. I don't know how that will happen, but it's a fond dream.

Amen. I will call my PacNW get-togethers shindas if I so choose and no so-caller is going to stop me!

Ick, I have tickets to Wicked in Hartford. But then, Donna the Darned Buffalo decided to come to Northampton the same night, so I have to ditch them. I have gotten rid of two, but need to sell the other two, then I can get tickets for another night. I wanted to take my daughter. We see a Broadway musical each year.

My mom and I decided that we will go see The Lion King in Providence for my birthday, we're aiming for Nov. 20. I am so excited and I think it's awesome that you go every year. Everyone should do that!

Myr, it is one of my favorite days of each year.
The Lion King was last year, and it was phenomenal.
One of the best shows we saw was "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at the performing arts high school.
And Kwea, these tickets are only 35 bucks! You could fly up and take them off my hands and spend less than that 257!

Most of the places on the web I went to were ticket resellers, and they have their prices jacked WAY up, probably because the other tickets aren't for sale yet.
Which level of ticket were you considering? Havew you decided on a date yet? Why are you going down there if you could just buy them online?

hmm . . . I thought I answered all of those questions. I am going in person because in-person ticket sales begin a couple of hours before online or phone sales, and the theatre is freaking hunormous. Last time I went there, I could vaguely make out somethinhg that looked kind of like a stage, about a mile away. I love this show too much to be able to bear seeing it like that. I don't have a specific date in mind. I lean toward a matinee, maybe a Sunday, but what I will do is find out what show I can get the best seats for. And as for the category of seats, I would like to get the best seats I can possibly get.

I'm 20 feet from the front of the line . . . I checked my finances, and I *could* afford to front the money if someone wants to go. I don't know what day I'll get, though.
(I'm thinking of Super Sunday though . . . might get better seats that way.)
