I just read the best recap of the many lives of Supergirl that it's ever been my pleasure to read.
When I was growing up, it was pretty much Supergirl or Wonder Woman or Betty and Veronica. I actually stopped reading comics for about 20 years when they killed Supergirl off in 1986 (or thereabouts).
I don't know if anyone here will find this interesting, but I thought I'd post it, just for the heck of it.

In an up coming issue of Fallen Angel, Peter David is going to do a story introducing a new character (previous protector of the city) that he says is clearly Linda Danvers without actually saying that it is her. Interview: http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=9407
Just as an aside: The latest incarnation of Supergirl is a terrrible.

Supergirl from her inception has always been a bad idea IMO. Just as batgirl was a bad idea for the exact same reasons.
But if you read supergirl at the exclusion of superman or superboy I can see how it would be enjoyable.
I really don't enjoy clones of superheroes that have only a difference in gender. Come up with something more original.
