My boyfriend told me about it this spring, and I watched the first season and part of the second in preparation for the season premiere.

It didn't disappoint. I can't wait for next Sunday.

If people are interested in discussing the season as it unfolds, I'll put up a spoiler warning and we can start speculating. [Smile]

Since I'm new here, I started poking around to see if anyone was discussing my favorite current series...the 4400. Unfortunately, this was all I found!

So, I'm going to have to do an advertisement rather than a discussion so that I can talk about it this summer with someone other than my husband. [Smile] Those of you who haven't seen it, it's a summer series (will probably start in June) so you have a few months to go get the first 3 seasons and catch up.

PREMISE: Over the past 60 years, 4400 people went missing. (Well, I'm sure more than that went missing, but 4400 who have to do with the show!) One day (in the series premiere) they all show up again, all at once, without having aged a day. They begin to exhibit extraordinary abilities.

CHARACTERS: If there is a main character, it is probably the homeland security agent who is assigned to work with them. His nephew is one of the 4400 who ends up being a key player. Another important character is an 8-year-old girl who can see the future. I think she's a really good child actress and possibly my favorite character. They manage to focus on just enough characters that you don't get too confused, not even at first.

One of the things I have complained about when it comes to Heroes is how slowly it moves...that is probably because I had just come out of watching The 4400. Every season -- every episode -- moves. They reveal more and more and yet at the end of every episode, for all you learned, you still have questions...sometimes more than you had before! They hold nothing back and are not-so-slowly spinning the series out into some kind of climax. The end of the third season was possibly the single best cliffhanger I've seen in television.

If you like scifi (and most of you probably do), then you should give this a chance. Just get the first DVD of the first season (Netflix has it) and see what you think. This show is subtly different from most of the stuff out there so it's difficult to try to compare it to anything else.

That whole Isabelle subplot probably was what made me lose interest. *yawn*

I like heroes a lot better. Although both shows are deeply flawed in different aspects, Heroes still has enough stuff I like to entertain me.

Did you follow the link in the second post, Christine? It leads to a 51 post discussion of the show.

I like "The 4400" a lot! I've been following it since season 01! Although I concur that the Isabelle subplot is a bit... lame, the series still keep enough punch for me to continue liking it.

I just finished watching the first two seasons on DVD yesterday! What a great show!! I don't mind the Isabelle subplot... I really like how every episode has it's own story with one of the 4400's powers instead of just following the same people all the time.

The Isabella plot kind of got weird in the third season. I'm still not entirely sure what I think of what they did with her. It still confuses me, to be honest. I think there are unanswered questions there but so far the writers have been good about eventually answering questions so I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

I saw the first few posts in the other thread, saw that it was two years old and people still thought the show was a mini-series. After you resteered me there, I noticed it went on. [Smile]

I've seen the first two seasons, and I'm really enjoying it so far. The second season tailed off somewhat in the middle but came back strongly at the end.

I'm not sure about what I've been spoiled for in the third season, though - I feel like they might have lost their way a little bit

I mean,

SPOILER, maybe

SORASed Isabelle? J.C. back from the dead? (both of which happened at the end of the 2nd season) Worst of all, bad things happening to Lily & Richard - who were my favourite TV couple [Frown]

It all kind of worries me and I haven't even seen it yet. Spoilers are bad for you.
