You know, I really like the idea of Vongo. I mean, it's essentially Napster for movies, and I think Napster is fantastic.
So I finally got around to downloading it, figuring I'd poke around on it for the two-week free trial and probably end up addicted.
But the program wouldn't load. It just sat at the "Loading Vongo" screen indefinitely.
Apparently, using Vongo on a wireless connection requires you to open three ports on your wireless router, according to the customer service guy. Which also, according to him, requires a call to the manufactuer of my router.
This is far, far too much work to give a company my money.
Does anyone know why that's the case? I've never had any trouble at all with my other subscription service, although I suppose it's different, since it uses Windows Media. But still. Seriously. I'm not willing to sit home making phone calls so that I can give you my ten bucks a month, Vongo.

The person you spoke to most likely isn't allowed to help you with opening ports on your router. Depending on the model router you have, I (or another of the resident Hatrack geeks) may be able to find steps on how to do it online.

Some programs/services rely solely on certain ports to transmit information. It sounds like Vongo is using certain ports that may normally be closed (for security reasons, maybe?) to transmit the movies and such to you.
EDIT: To be sort of specific, I have one torrent client that only works on a certain port. I had to go into my network preferences and allow the program to access that port (which it normally can't).
