Okay, this thing is really frustrating me.

Does anyone know how I can insert a picture into a word doc and be able to move it around with my mouse?

I inserted one picture, and it worked fine, I can move it around, and the text conforms to fit it, I can rotate it, I can make it dance on the head of a pin.

I tried inserting a second picture, and it just sits there, and can only be moved by using the space bar or enter key, and is otherwise VERY unhelpful in what I'm trying to do.

What is the magic solution? (And don't say "Don't use MS Word")

Have you looked at the properties for the picture? Right click on the image, click on properties, and see what's there. Which version of Word are you using?

Both images I tried using are JPEGs.

MS Word 2002, part of MS Office 10.

I can't remember if you can lock and unlock a picture's position relative to the text in Word. I think you can. Perhaps one picture is locked, and the other is unlocked?

Click on the picture to pop up the "Picture Toolbar." On said toolbar will be an icon of a dog with lines in front of it - click it. This should bring up a drop-down menu with options on how to position your picture in relation to your text. Either the "Behind Text" or "In Front of Text" should work to allow you to position your picture at will - you'll just need to arrange your text around your picture.

Hope this helps. [Smile]

I don't see how one could have been locked and the other unlocked, I just took the pictures like 20 minutes ago, and then loaded them onto my computer.

But if that were the case? How would I change it?

I know I can move the text on top of or behind the picture, but I want them all to behave like the one I already somehow got to behave that way, so the text will automatically adjust around the picture, it'd format it much, much easier. It'll be a useful last resort, if necessary, thanks [Smile] .

Experiment with the other "Wrap" functions - I'm positive your answer is in there.

Edit to add - After experimentation, use the "Tight" button. Works wonderfully.

Oh! oooooo!!!!!

Carrie wins the prize!! Which in this case is my everlasting devotion and gratitude!

MERCI!

I needed to change the layout to "Square" and then put the alignment on other, and it all clicked.
