Take any 2 heroes, ships, factions, powers etc pit hem together and see who would win.

I'll start.

A Spartan-II or a Predator (those alien dudes from AVP)

I say Spartans because not only are they trained from 6 years old to be perfect soldiers, but also given enhacements to their strength, speed, and reaction times. Also each and every one is an master marksman in his or her right, trained in martial arts, and can think on each his or her feet.

well the books do a good job in describing several close encounters with Brutes. To win conclusively vs them Spartans need A) surprise, B) explosives, and C) not be too outnumbered.

You refer to a Predator as "those alien dudes from AVP?"

Your geek status is revoked!

Seconded! Blayne you can obtain your geek status again if you can correctly identify which famous wrestler turned politician wielded the awesome mini gun in the movie that created the, "alien from AVP."

edit: Hint, its not Arnold, he never uses the gun.

[Frown]

Nope, Jessie "The Body" Ventura.

Anybody else got a question that Blayne can redeem himself with?

Blayne, have you ever heard of imdb? Wikipedia? Something?

Two seconds of research would have lended you the answer and you would have looked smart for a change.

OK nobody else volunteered so here's another question of geekial redeeming qualities for Blayne.

If William Shatner made an appearance in a Star Trek movie, and not as Kirk, the results would be,

A: Priceline would record record hits on their websites as enraged fans booked flights to Canada to show Bill what they think of his latest career move.

B: Movie houses would be packed with Trek fans who come to see the movie anyway, and spend the entire 15 minutes of previews saying how much they hate William Shatner for this indignity.

C: The character Shatner plays would be James Tiberius Kirk in all but name as a sort of insane compromise.

D: All of the above.

Now think CAREFULLY.

I haven't read Ghosts of Onyx. That's how you kill Brutes in the game. They're kind of stupid.

Wait, forget "kind of." They're spectacularly stupid.

AVP is like the SW prequelsl there is no reason to beleive they ever happened. On the other hand, Predator has some all star one liners:

Blain(BigJesseV): #!$%^@%^ is dug in like an Alabama tick.
Poncho: You're bleeding, man.
Blain: I ain't got time to bleed.
[Poncho shoots a bunch of grenades up to the top of the cliff]
Poncho: You got time to duck?

and the immortal "Get to da choppah!"

That movie is so bad it's good.

As spectacular as the Spartans are, I put my monies on the Predators, think of the predator like an invisible elite with a self tracking tridot death ray.

Next up: Warhammer 40K terminator squad vs Voltron

hands down terminators over voltron... they're just so gritty and battle-hardened, and have lived through something like 100+ years of constant warfare. Voltron may be bigger and technically more powerful, but it's pilots are pansys by comparison. Also, Voltron doesn't have the ever-living emperor watching it's back and techmarines waiting to enshrine the survivors into dreadnaughts (which would be able to mop the floor that much easier with Voltron).

P.S. If they're Deathwing terminators then it's just a joke =p

Spartans have MOLJNIR mark 6 armour with regenerative shields, an order of magnitude better in reflex, and stregnth enhancements as well as a UI that gives all sorta of pertinent battlefield stuff. Aslong as the equilivent of a starsips AI core in it to carry around Cortana. Spartain-II Linda could shot down perfectly some 4 Banshees down through their narrow view plate while hanging upside down hung from a cord attached to a pipe without missing once or giving away her position.

George III was not even the strongest of the Georges, and if he is old he is debilitated by insanity. They found alot of arsenic on his hairs in a postmortem examination of his body.

How about Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr, but this time Alexander intends to actually fire his weapon at Burr? Oh man, I'd give all my possessions, and forfeit all the fruits of my labor for 20 years to witness it.

Armor won't stop the Predator from pulling your head from your body, and they don't even have to twist the head first. Also they have nuclear devices inside their armor that they can arm with short timers VERY fast in case they are defeated.

havent you read a Halo novel? Their armour has a nuclear power source as well. And the shields a Spartans Armour will keep them from taking off your head and WILL absorb the shot from a Preds guns, the Covenant utilize super heated PLASMA in their guns. If they can take several shots from those they can take hits froma Preds guns, especially since those guns appear to be slow loading.

Blayne, just a warning: when you state categorically that one fictional technology is better than another fictional technology from a different fictional universe you come across as more of a crackpot than normal.

Unless this is something as cut and dried as saying that a super star destroyer is bigger than a tribble then you should just calm down... a lot.

Apart from the general idea that we really don't know much about these technologies (especially since I'm reasonably certain that none of them could exist given our physics) there are already examples of other fictional technologies which might address your concerns (think shields in the Dune universe, which stop fast projectiles, allow slow projectiles and cause a thermo-nuclear detonation when hit by energy weapons) how can you possibly know categorically what Spartan armor will stop and even what the nature of a Predator's weaponry is (maybe it's a super-charged energy bolt of some type that just looks like whatever else).

P.S. it makes me sad that you're working on the assumption that we've all read Halo novels [Frown]

and BlackBlade... rofl

How about this one:

Spartan (as in the greeks) v Samurai?

Who wins?

Or how about the werewolf in "An American Werewolf in London" vs. "Silver Bullet"?

Daleks. Terminators kill people, but they don't regenerate.

*edit, this is assuming you aren't referring to the more recent versions of the terminators, of course, then it might be a little...tougher to say, except that apparently one Austrian terminator can kill the new ones...*

PS, Grimace, I've yet to see a time when Blayne hasn't come across as a bit of a crack-pot.

Simple, through descriptions, the Halo books put the Spartan-II MJOLNIR shields as being able to fend off kenetic attacks (bullets) and plasma attacks with equal ability (slightly better for plasma because the armour was designed from the get go for dealing with the Covenant). That armour has taken hits from high calibre rifles, melee attacks, plasma bursts form hand guns, rifles, and even from a fuel rod. The enrgy weapon a predator has while able to shred a human being is more or less the same as a plasma burst which the regenerative shields on a Spartans armour could take probly 4-5 hits from before reaching critically low levels and even then Spartan-IIs are trained to NOT get hit. As someone who has seen the Predator movies, and played Halo I, II, and read all 3 Halo books I think I am a fair judge that until a Predator can single handedly wipe out entire battalions of enemy foot soldiers just from tactical skill Spartans would win any fight one on one or group on group in EVERY circumstance because they are trained to think on their feet and adapt to changing circumstances. Has anyone played F.E.A.R? a Spartans reflexes are just a tad bit slower based on descriptions from the books (which are cannon btw).

Totally Terminators over Daleks. All they'd have to do is launch a bunch of leaflets with this particular image printed on them and the Daleks would all commit mass suicide.

William Daniels (John Adams or George Feeney) pwns ALL.

Although its sort of ironical that he was John Adams and a man named George. Huh.

Also he was Kit from Night Rider.
