I'm trying to work out a way to make the stuff that comes up on my computer screen play on the TV -- so if I have a video on the computer, I can connect it to my television and watch it that way. My computer has an S-Video jack, and the TV has a coaxial cable connection. I bought all this conversion stuff and I thought I followed the instructions properly but it won't work. Does anyone know how this can be done?

On some computers, it's another key, like Function+F5. Look for a key with a blue TV screen drawn above it.
If nothing like what I'm saying works or makes sense, right-click on an empty part of your desktop and select properties from the context menu. Click on the Settings tab and then click on Advanced. After this point, every computer I've worked with is different. But look for a tab or a button that says something like Displays, and there should be a way to enable the S-Video output there (preferably without disabling the monitor).

Also make sure your TV is on the right input. My tv has like four different input options, and it's sometimes hard to remember which one is for what.

I mostly figured out how to do it. I can't get the audio to play on the TV though; it always just comes from the computer. I guess that's how it's going to be forever? S-video jacks don't convey sound?

No, but you should have headphone outputs on your computer. You can buy an adaptor to convert those to RCA plugs, and then connect those to your TV's sound input jack.

Or just hook up a set of external speakers. I watched Lost that way last week. A really decent picture.
