I'm new to the site. And I am an avid fan.
What I dont get is with all of the remake upon remake of movies out there. Why cant the people in charge put together a great new movie with a fresh taste like enders game.

I would like any feed back.

Hi, ralph, and welcome!

My feedback is to take a look around before starting a new thread on a topic. . . there is a thread discussing this very matter in the first 20 threads currently on the site! It's generally easier if we keep discussion of any particular topic to only one thread at a time.

As it happens, while I would certainly love to see an Ender's Game movie, it's been in development so long it's kinda become a bit of a joke on the site. None of us are exactly holding our breath anymore. [Smile]

I still insist it should be either CGI or very well done Anime to solve the issue with child actors.

Blayne,
You are probley right. Both cgi and anime are good, but they dont have a real feel to them. If you want to keep it a dream live in the book.

My ideal format would be a collection of short films. Done in different formats, with different actors / cgi characters. So many people have their own ideas and images, that this would be IMO the ideal way for showing all the possibilities.

Sort of like the Animatrix, except deeper, and better.

Or even better, have a central theme / style, but have the side stories done with other methods. Have all the battleroom scenes be cgi or animated, but have the scenes on earth be live actors. And then have some in black and white, like perhaps flashbacks. Keep them short (10 mins) or up to 1 hour. Make it a multi-year, multi-faceted, multi-medium experience.

Since OSC is already writing extra stories in the IGMS, and the new graphic novel coming out with Ender. The multi-medium structure is already there, just expand and improve.

Personally, I agree with Blayne on the CGI. If you look at CGI movies in the past 10 years, they have come an extremely long way. As far as I can see, there is no indication that the progress is going to slow down anytime soon. If anything, I would expect it to improve faster. Let's face it, from the information available to the public, it doesn't look like this movie will begin filming any time soon. Even though CGI isn't ready to handle this sort of movie today, by the time it is ready for filming, that may very well have changed.

I would definitely not go as far as saying that it looked almost real. It was definitely good, and I especially thought that the character animation was some of the best I have ever seen, but it definitely has a long way to go. For one thing, a lot of the textures, especially for the skin, look really flat and plastic-like. Still, it was pretty good overall, and to my mind it definitely showed promise for realism in the future.

CGI? I would never forgive OSC for allowing it.
Anime? *runs in circles screaming ripping hair out*

I think the entire movie should be done with stick figures.

My contribution.

Captions will have to be detailed, and the suspension of disbelief will have to be generous.

I wouldn't mind a CGI version of Ender's Game. I honestly don't know how else the Battle Room scenes could be done convincingly, even if CGI was mixed in with live action (which is still pretty shoddy, IMO).

Anime, on the other hand. I would lose a lot of respect for anyone involved in the movie if they resorted to anime.
