...I've heard unconfirmed rumors that it has an early teaser for Bolt (formerly titled 'American Dog'), a semi-controversial animated film that saw a lot of revamping and revising after Lasseter came in.
Is this true? I really don't plan to see it, but I am interested in 'Bolt'.

I don't disdain those who take their kids to see Underdog. It's August...good family fare will either be holdovers from earlier months or completely non-existent.
(And it could be worse. They could have kids who wanna see Bratz.)

Like Transformers, Bratz is another case where evil Hollywood know-it-alls redesigned a beloved toy for no good reason.

Bratz was the first movie I've ever heard of for which the local newspaper gave a review of ZERO stars.

Bratz was a beloved toy?

Bolt is set for a November, 2008 release. It's been the source of some controversy. Originally it was titled American Dog and was going to be Chris Sanders follow-up to Lilo and Stitch. The quirky, offbeat elements of that film would've been turned up considerably. Test footage of the film gained a positive buzz, but the (unconfirmed by any official source) word is that John Lasseter thought the project was too quirky for its own good. He and Sanders clashed over proposed changes to the project, and eventually Sanders left Walt Disney after being fired from what was his...uh..."pet" project. Sanders' version would have featured radioactive mutant rabbits, a cat with hook and an eyepatch, fast Hollywood wheeling and dealing...basically the dog getting into a lot of potentially edgy, somewhat more adult-oriented misadventures.
Numerous sites speculated that the clash was over CGI versus 2D animation, but that doesn't fit the info coming from inside the studio. It seems that the story and characters have been gutted and retrofitted into a much more traditional, family-friendly film.
The current version of the film is being directed by Chris (The Emperor's New Groove) Williams, who has experience with being put on a film and almost completely rebuilding it from the ground up.
It's supposed to be about a white German Shepherd named "Bolt" who stars on a TV series as a super-heroic canine...only, Bolt thinks the TV show is real. He gets lost, meets up with some kooky animal sidekicks...finds out the truth...you can guess the rest.
Time will tell if it'll be worth watching.

Yup. And it scored an impressively low 15 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
Incidentally, Bratz got an even more awe-inspiring 10%
I don't think I've ever sent more hateful energy at a movie screen before I saw the Underdog trailer.

So, what you're essentially saying is that the extended title is "Bolt Lightyear"?

You read my mind.

I would have thought so, too (I believe I made a comment to my sister about "the use of CGI for evil"), but I saw the preview for the next "Mr. Bean" movie in the same set. Which made me want to gouge out my eyes with a fork. Or, better yet, Rowan Atkinson's. (Blast it, I remember when the man actually used to be funny...)
