<Removed links.>

Sorry -- I'm on vacation, using dial-up and a computer I don't like, so I'll figure out who won and try to be creative and stuff later. Thanks for understanding.

Darn it. I was hoping for an homage to all the tasty drinks and desserts at the Sonic drive in. I wasn't sure what it had to do with the movie, but we can talk some limeades.

Cherry limeade may be the most perfect drink in the world, but I admit to not having tried the cranberry yet. I love anything with cranberries in it, so I expect it to be the new fave.

Aw come on, Strawberry Limeaid. Cherry doesn't have enough flavor. Or the ones I got didn't.

I heard a rumor today that Sonic is coming to the Chicago area. And that Jack in the Box is returning. Hope it's true!!

Sonic Sunrise!

All their ice cream-based products, however, are disgusting.

Oh, I know!

Their shakes taste vile, these days.

As a kid I used to love their chocolate malt.

Steak N' Shake makes pretty good shakes. Especially the dark chocolate one.

Silver Diner makes really good shakes, but they're a bit pricey.

I really wish Sonic would stop national advertising. The three places I've lived for any substantial length of time--Makakilo, HI, Rochester, NY, Seattle, WA--have been utterly Sonicless, and the commercials make their stuff look pretty freakin' good.

SIGH.

You're not missing much. Their shakes were once awesome, but, as mentioned, they no longer are.

-o-

Steak & Shake shakes are okay, but they're basically vanilla shakes with syrup added. That's nowhere near as good as a real shake, such as a chocolate shake made with chocolate ice cream. Baskin Robbins actually makes a pretty fantastic chocolate shake, as does Hershey's Ice Cream Parlor.

(And, believe it or not, the Latin American Cafeteria in Miami.)

Buffalo, NY right there with ya. If you aren't within 150 miles, perhaps your ad money is best spent elsewhere.

They've been 'fertilizing' for years, are they trying to blow up the Falls??

The town where I live now used to have a Sonic. I was never that impressed with it, but perhaps I wasn't getting the right things.

As for milkshakes, my favorite shakes are the ones you get at ice cream shops made from actual ice cream.

Agreed. There are nights when I almost cry for the lack of their greasy burgers, salty tots, and the afore-mentioned Sonic Sunrise (cherry limeade mixed with orange juice.)

Their ice cream didn't used to bother me, but now it tastes odd.

I do like the cherry limeaid and the grilled chicken wrap. Their onion rings are okay, but I like Culver's onion rings more.

We've got a Hardees here and they are serving orange dreamsicle shakes. I want to try that.

Orange dreamsicle shakes? Carl's Jr. has those! Are Carl's Jr. and Hardees the same thing? Or just owned by the same company?

I'm never the first one to report, but this is the first time I've seen the thread before PJ got to it.

Owned by the same company, KQ.

Max & Erma's has an orange creamsicle shake (with real orange juice and Tang mixed in) that's pretty good.
