I remember the week Katrina hit, hearing about negotiations between the White House and the Louisiana governor's office, over deployment of National Guard, and other issues. Does anyone have a source on this, or remember details I could look up? I'm writing an article (for IGMS; check it out soon!) and want to get my facts right.

You could run a search on "Blanco" on this site. If you want to narrow it down a bit, do it by a poster name for someone you find reliable.

It was something you could have found through links in the main Katrina thread. Unfortunately, somebody decided to delete the threads which were contemporaneous with the landfall and the aftermath.

Start by googling GOHSEP Chertoff, then scan through what pops up for other keywords to narrow your search.

Still couldn't find the negotiations, but enough to convince me there was no interesting story.

Shame those links disappeared.
