Topic: Isn't spam at Hatrack basically a sideshow?

This is something that I've been expecting someone, somewhere to say recently, in response to HannaBayret's statements and Papa Janitor's editing. Am I missing where the whistlers have raised this? Or am I not correct in thinking this?
It seems obvious to me. Yes, the spamming threads are an important problem and deleting or replacing them is likely necessary to move forward, but that seems to me to be a very intermediate goal.
They weren't around to be the problems that KathrynHJanitor knew about in the early AOL days but forgot in the intervening site changes.
There are major moderator/administrator/webmaster hurdles to there ever being a working spamless forum or even a working limited-spam forum at Hatrack. These are, in my view, the central issues that need to be worked on, but it doesn't seem the forum software has changed yet.
There's things like "In BFFaC, the regular spam-link-clickers have turned on spammers and are whistling their posts." Don't get me wrong. That's great intermediate news, but they're not on our side. They just want to win the whistle-race. I get the feeling that when they've achieved a win and stop whistling, it's going to be a shock to the members at large as opposed to the extremely obvious occurance that it seems to me.
The White Whale for the win by 23 seconds.

Wait Wait, PJ has time to go to the gym while simultaneously moderating this forum?! The man needs to get his priorities straight!
I always assumed those random 24 hour periods where the forums are, "Running maintenance" were brief period where Papa recommitted himself to some exercise routine.

He also spends his days raising three young boys. He was going to have some weird girl come help him for a few weeks in May, but she flaked out on him.
