I know people here have played scrabble games online, where you can arrange a room with people you know. I've looked online and all the sites just have downloadable versions. Scrabulous.com lets me play online, but I can't create my own game.
Does anyone still have the link(s)?

You can play Literati on Yahoo. It's basically the same thing. That's where my friends and I play.

Is there a timelimit that you must create your word within? That's how Yahoo Chess worked, I'm just afraid to commit to a game if there is a time frame you have to operate within. (I'm at work)
As an aside does anybody want to all join the same scrabble game sometime this afternoon/evening? I love Scrabble.

Gah! They let a player use "MIDI"! It's an acronym, you can't use acronyms!
Edit: and foreign languages! crazy! Edit2: nevermind. I forgot "si" was a musical tone and "midi" is apparently some kind of skirt. Crazy English language.

Lost my first two games, and then ran my opponents clock out when she spent 2 minutes on one word. I felt so dirty winning that way, but it felt so satisfying to have a one-three letter word ready to go as soon as she placed her tiles and then see her panic when within a second it was her turn again

I got the CD version of Literati years ago. It is excellent. Usually I select the two player option, with one player being the computer. When I set the computer's play level at maximum, I can hardly ever beat it. Maybe once or twice in a year I might beat it--and that's only if I luck out and get a huge score to start with in the first turn. Usually I resign myself to just seeing how close to the computer's score I can come, being beaten by less than 100 points. And I have a large vocabulary, and am a good speller! It also grates on me how I might have to take five or more minutes to scope out the best play in a given turn, and then the computer comes out with its turn--that scores higher than I just did--in a second or two.
What I would like is an option to have the computer review the play I just made, and then make the play it would have made. My version doesn't have this option.

Haha, I feel ya. Check out the list of acceptable two letter words. There's a couple with Q and no U. I've never heard the words, but their there.

Qat and qi can be your friends. Then there are qadi, qaid, qanat... lots of them . Mbaqanga...
Ron Lambert, I can only warn you with extreme warningness that when you start to go down the path of having the computer examine your moves, you will be on a road that leads to having boxes of flashcards and anagramming street signs and, egad, real life tournaments. I'm warning you.

I would be! I'm pretty bad at Scrabble though. Games with me tend to be entertaining because of the random words I try to sneak in.

I have a dinner to go to around 10:00pm EST. I'd love to play anytime before then, if you guys are up for it?

I just got to put down "traverse" using all my letters. Had to pass three times until I could use it. But it was worth it.

I think this is going to become a new pet phrase of mine. (somebody probably needs to go warn my friends not to communicate with me)

I don't think I have time for a game now. Sorry. (And no Scrabulous handle yet, but I'll get one.)

I play at Scrabulous.com a bit when I can find the time. My screen-name is Malkin. Here is a screenshot of a game that I played when I realized that I could play a rather familiar word to all of us... Also the 3 other people playing were OSC fans, so I got a good reaction from them.

Agreed... although I probably could get away with playing at work. I wouldn't get much work done. Perhaps upon arriving home.

I'll see what I can do once I get back from school. I've got to go there and sort some stuff out after work.
