You should sign up for the exchange thing-a-majig.
Last year, I think I'd been on Hatrack for only a few months and I had a blast with it. Granted I'm a little strange and I really enjoy giving stuff to complete strangers and hoping that they'll like it, I'm pretty sure you too can have some fun giving a gift to a (potential) stranger and getting a gift from a (potential) stranger. I still don't know anyone 'for real' on this crazy website (said with affection) and the exchange was still pretty fun last year.
So, yeah, come out and play. : ) Don't let the big, scary, we all know each other and eat dinner at each other's homes and crash on each other's couches and help name each other's kids, been here forever Hatrackers scare you...
Just do it... because it's fun!!!

Hey Steve, "from each according to his ability..."
Last year was great fun, both the process of brain wracking to choose a present for your partner, and also that you get a totally random christmas gift.
It's great, and you don't need to spend much, in fact if you make something yourself, the only cost would be postage...
Have a go, and dive right in!
