So, any of us still need a gift for someone? I have everyone covered except my brother. I still have no idea what to get him. Im thinking i should just give up and call him and ask what he wants. My mom and sister have already bought his kids a bunch of stuff and since i have no job, I didnt want to follow suit. I've got about $30-40 with which i can get him sonething. any decent generic gift ideas out there?

How many people do you still have to get gifts for, and who are they? Im hoping there are other last minute hatrack shoppers and maybe we can help each other.

EDIT: OK i ended up buying a set of 4 Guinness beer mugs of Amazon and am having them shipped to his house in NC. I guess i should just buy a single Guinness can if i am able to and wrap that for under the tree.

I still have to buy my sister's gift, but now I finally know what to get her. She called me last night demanding (not asking) that I bring my crock pot for her to use on Christmas day. So she's getting her own bleepin crock pot.

ah, those things are awesome. i would never have thought so until i was shown the light. Being a college student, i was wary of wanting something like that, but they are great for students. add stuff to them in the morning, go to classes all day, and have an awesome meal for dinner.

Ohh . . . I loves my crockpot. And a Guiness. [Smile]

I'll be using my crockpot for my roast beef dinner this Christmas Eve. There's nothing like raost beef that has slowly cooked under garlic and onions all day. *rubs tummy*

Rival SmartPot with the digital timer (I adore mine) was on sale at Target last time I was there for $35. Not sure if that's still on...

I lost an expensive gift for my daughter. I can't believe it, I'm still shocked.

My daughter loves jewelry and often makes her own fashion jewelry using wire and bead techniques. I wanted to buy her a pair of earrings that were really nice, with real gemstones, a nice piece of fine jewelry she didn't have to make herself.

So, I found, the day after thanksgiving, a huge sale at a store and got her some diamond earrings at a price I could afford. She's about to be 15, and I thought that's a nice, grown-up gift to give a young girl who loves jewelry - real diamonds.

Yeah, they're gone. I knew where they were, had laid eyes on them as recent as a week ago, and now they're gone. I've checked everywhere. I think, when I was wrapping gifts, they may have gotten mixed up in all the trash, given that it was a small box, and thrown out.

Well, as you can imagine, they were a significant part of my gifts to her, a major portion of the gift-giving budget. And, if you don't remember, my daughter was born on Christmas, so they were a significant part of her birthday gift as well.

Well, my husband to the rescue. A fellow firefighter owns a fine jewelry store and told my husband if he would come by on Christmas Eve he could fix him up with something nice for me at a deep discount. Instead, he and I went over there together and got some earrings for my daughter. Not diamonds, even with his discount we couldn't get any of their earrings on my remaining Christmas budget, but some gorgeous lapis and iolite dangling earrings and another pair of amethyst earrings. Semi-precious, but very pretty and well made, with sterling silver findings.

I'm still bummed about the lost ones, but these are nice replacements. Of course, chances are I will find the new ones, AFTER Christmas.

Then, they'll be mine. [Evil] My husband thinks this is all an elaborate plot on my part. I assure you, it's not. And yes, I sacrificed whatever he was going to buy me in order to make my daughter happy, but that's part of being a mom.
