Except you don't die of masturbation and more than you die of jogging. Even if he died while masturbating, it is much more likely to have been caused more by heart failure, drug overdose, asphyxiation, or any number of other more direct causes.

More reports are coming in. No mention of masturbation, but many do mention pills found near him.

I think porter's point was he didn't accept what Wikipedia said about the cause death.

This really sucks. He is younger then me and had so much talent...and a little girl.

Another link.

quote:
Sources tell CBS 2's Scott Weinberger the death may be drug-related and that there were pills scattered around the room.

Ledger had recently separated from his wife, actress Michelle Williams. The couple have one daughter, Matilda.

I am really sad about this. I liked him as an actor.

The masturbation thing is off the Wikipedia page. Now Wikipedia says he died of drug overdose.

Quite sad no matter how he died. Didn't he have a small daughter?

Yeah, I liked him a lot, too. I think The Dark Night was going to put him in the top tier. That movie looks amazing and he looks like he might steal the film.

All I can say is that at least he didn't go out like Raul Julia or Aaliyah (last films: Street Fighter and Queen of the Damned.)

Well, The Dark Knight is in "post production", at least according to IMDB.

But that means that the next Terry Gilliam movie, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, is probably dead in the water.

The wikipedia article is getting vandalized, so until it gets locked, I wouldn't trust the information on it. I'd even be careful about going to it, evidently people are putting ...images on it, as well.

It's unfortunate that he died. I liked him as an actor.

I'm anxious to see the findings of the coroner.

They ALWAYS say it seems "drug-related" whenever somebody young dies. It makes me sad because even when that turns out not to be the case, people still cling to the "drug-related" thing.

I'm curious as well. According to the TDK trivia page on IMDB, he spent a month in isolation getting in character to be The Joker, so much so that he suffered insomnia as a result of it.

Perhaps he went too far in to the character...

This is sad... And on top of Brad Renfro's recent death...

I suppose they'll need to recast The Joker if he survives The Dark Knight now.

My girlfriend and I just flipped through the TV before she had to go, and there on the news was a picture of some blonde guy. We were both like "Who is that? He looks so familiar." Then the headline came back, "Ledger Dead" and I was in shock.

This is horrible. It's likely to prove once again that you can be beautiful, brilliant, successful, yet still very unhappy.

Poor guy. Poor ex-wife. Poor little kid.

Who have they said that about where it turned out not to be true? I'm assuming that you mean 'news organizations' when you say 'they', and not wikipeople. I don't deny it; I'm just curious is you remember anyone specifically.

Specifically right now, although I don't remember his name, I do remember a 30-something rockstar who died of a heart attack that was originally assumed to be drug related. Turned out...no, he just had a heart attack.

What I've read on CNN mentions an "over-the-counter" sleep medication being found near his body. So while it would be strictly accurate to say his death was "drug-related", it sounds more like suicide than that he died, say, like John Belushi.

He was developing into a remarkably talented young actor. I'm very sorry to hear of his death.

I hope the Batman movie is as good as it looks to stand as a final testament to his acting ability. From the glimpses of him you get from the trailer, it looks like he did an amazing job.

I don't recall his name but I suspect you are thinking of the lead singer from Drowning Pool. It was initially reported as drug related, but it wasn't.

I feel a deep sense of loss that I won't get to see him in movies down the road. Dark Knight is going to be a bitter sweet experience for me of that I am certain.

Yeah. It's like watching Waitress last summer. I could never lose myself in the film whenever Adrienne Shelly was onscreen as "Dawn". I kept remembering that this talented person's life had been cut off. [Frown]

Hmm... Joachin Phoenix is only slightly outside that barrier. I think Kieran Culkin has far surpassed his better-known brother (The Mighty, Cider House Rules, Igby Goes Down.) And I'll confess to a certain, perhaps increasingly dubious, respect for Linsay Lohan. Her personal life is going to hell, and she's made a string of dreck, but I thought she was really rather good in Mean Girls (and even The Parent Trap, for all that.)

Me neither, but it's the lost potential that I feel the most. Like Steve Rogers said, the mere glimpses of his performance in the trailers for The Dark Knight hint at an incredible talent, and I have a feeling that his swan song will reveal a greater loss than many realize.

I thought he was excellent in The Patriot.

The new Batman trailers look really good, particularly his part in it.

This really does suck. I mean, who's going to do the Joker in future Batman movies? It's not like Batman and the Joker ever really manage to kill each other, do they?
