Yes, the Golden Raspberry award. The prize no one in Hollywood wants.

That's arguably not true... Tom Green accepted five awards IN PERSON for 2001's Freddy Got Fingered. [Wink]

Is it possible to nominate any of the Star Wars prequels for worst screenplay? I mean, I know they weren't released this year, but please, could we just go ahead and nominate them in perpetuity, kind of like how Eye of Argon is a perennial winner of worst short story?

Mistake not acceptance for coveting. [Big Grin]

Freddy Got Fingered won Razzies? But... but... but... That's like the best movie of all time.

I haven't seen any of the films nominated for Razzies and I haven't seen most of the films nominated for Oscars. I guess my taste in movies is boringly mediocre.

If one truly cares passionately about bad movies, one can register to become a voting member. There's a fee though, so mainly those truly dedicated to "celebrating" lousy films register. [Smile]

Once registered, one can vote on the year's films and get full participation in their forums.

Kind of a rarefied taste.

Yes.

Those films are merely bad.

Freddy Got Fingered is so bad it's good. The only serious contender to it is Vampire in Brooklyn with Eddie Murphy.

Hoo-boy, do I disagree. It was so bad that it was bad. [Big Grin]

Skinwalkers...now -that- was a film so bad it's good. Nothing can beat the Gun-Toting Werewolf Granny!

I'm tempted to register and pay just so I can start a movement to give Uwe Boll a "Lifetime Achievement Award".

Who's with me?

I thought Halle Berry's acceptance for Catwoman was quite good-humored.

Or it means you both follow your own tastes in films, free from the obsessive need to use the best and worst labels provided by so-called experts? [Wink]

Okay. Done. Now what? [Smile]

(The very things the writer holds up as unique and noteworthy I find stupid and worthless. *shrug*)

I love that essay. It pretty much summarizes all my feelings about the movie, even if I can understand why others wouldn't like it. It is, if nothing else, at least a film you will remember.

Nothing, just thought you'd like to read an argument defending the movie or at least providing a different perspective.

Regarding Freddy Got Fingered:
You know, I recall there being a tiny moment at the end of the preview for "Road Trip" where Tom Green, out-of-character, is told that a mouse he held in his mouth may have defecated and he says something along the lines of "Oh. Gross."

In that one, brief moment, Green was far more likeable than in all the slack-jawed, slack-eyed, idiot-manchild persona time he's given the rest of his career.

FGF might be memorable, but it sounds like, were I unfortunate enough to see it, I would pay good money to purge that memory.
