We can still hope there won't be time to write and choreograph the usual excessive rigamarole...

I saw some of "Ghost Whisperer" last night and oh boy if that wasn't a clue that we need the writer's strike to end, I don't know what is.

I really hope it ends before the Oscars. I never get to watch them because it's a school night & I just can't stay up that late. But now I'm on maternity leave! So I'm up all night anyway!! /selfish
Oh, and I hope the writers get their demands met, too.

I'd be really amused if the Oscars were a press conference. However, I would also like some of the shows that I like to start up again. Oh well. I guess it's not a big deal either way.

The Oscars getting abbreviated would be small solace for so many people being out of work in LA right now.
I can't wait for the strike to end. No one has to watch the Oscars. No one has to watch movies or television, either, but isn't it great when there are fabulous films and shows to watch?

Fabulous films. I can't remember the last time one of those came out. I'm pretty sure it was way before the strike though.

When people say that, I can never figure out if they're joking/making reference to the crappy movies that do well, or if they just really don't see that many movies....

I would love to answer this question but I have to figure out why many of my keys seem to be acting as short cuts and sending my browser all over the place. For example, my apostrophe key keeps opening up a quick find in Firefox. Let me fix this and then I will be back.

I'll be honest and say that I haven't seen many movies lately. That's because I have been completely turned off by the previews. I assume that if the preview is nothing more than explosions and people licking each other then the movie will not be much better. That said, I would be very happy to hear suggestions for movies from those who have been recently wowed.

This has been happening to me too! Not here at Hatrack, but at my primary webmail. Bloody annoying. How did you fix it (if you did)?

Tristan: I did find a fix online somewhere but it ended up fixing itself when I reopened the browser. Google apostrophe and quick find, and you see it.

I'm concerned that it looks like the writers may be in the same boat as they were with DVDs. They will get payment for streaming/online episodes, but they won't get serious percentage points from the profits.

I thought "Juno" was pretty good, though it was definitely PG-13+.
I liked "Stranger than Fiction" quite a bit. I liked "Next" pretty well, though it was kind of on the action packed side. I guess mainly I was surprised not to have heard of it, considering how tolerable it was. I liked "Children of Men" but only because I was able to process the F word as being a quaint feature of their dialect. "Dan in Real Life" was excellent.
What kind of movies have you liked previously?
