Mmmm... I wonder.

Not that I'm an alchoholic (I already know that! lol), but I wonder if my body is having issues.
Night of drinking, great fun and karaoke, but while I don't have a hangover my insides are a little unhappy.

Where exactly are your kidneys?
Time to eat some cranberries and drink more water I guess.

At least my quest to quit smoking is a success!

You drink too much if it's not worth it but you do it anyway.

hehe... true!

I wonder what are some good warning signs, physically, that you might be drinking too much.

CT?

I wonder if I don't drink enough. I have a single alcoholic beverage a month, sometimes not even that, and rarely get drunk more than once a year. And it's supposed to have some health benefits when done in moderation.

Oh, and I tend to agree with both Samp and pooka when speaking on the subject in general.

Yes Lyrhawn, you need to drink more.

See! I keep on saying we should hang out as we're almost neighbors.

I refrain from commenting, mostly because such information is usually taken (consciously or subconsciously) to mean that if you don't have these symptoms, then you're doing okay. A non sequitur in extremis.

However, I will say the following:

1. Excessive alcohol use is hard on multiple organs, especially the liver.

2. Excessive alcohol use does put you at risk for short- as well as long-term harms -- it's a primary risk factor for all sorts of things that take you to an ER.

3. If you start to wonder (for any reason) if you are drinking too much alcohol, then it might be a good time to think about that some more.

4. I really like pooka's phrasing as one indicator of a problem. I'm going to share that one with my spouse, who studies this field.

I think an important question is, can you NOT drink? If you can't, please look for help.

Well from the sounds people are making in this thread, that'd make me an enabler!

You should come to the Nightwish concert in Ontario with me and some friends (and possibly some Hatrackers) in May. Wyandotte isn't exactly on the way, but we'll swing by and pick you up. We could enjoy a hardy glass of ice water together.

It's odd.
I just quit smoking last month and besides finding the need to eat on everything I end up drinking more. Maybe it's to keep me busy/distracted enough so I don't pick up a ciggy.

I drink more than is healthy, I'm sure, but I don't HAVE to have a drink. I go weeks without drinking, but when I do get down I really get down.

Can you refrain from "really getting down"? Could you have a single drink and stop there for the evening?

I'm up near sac, if we went out drinking though, you'd both know what it means to drink too much. Hehe.

Considering I'm buzzed after a beer, sometimes two, I think I'd be dead before you two were even warmed up.

Well, then, Lyr, that would make you the designated driver, wouldn't it? You drink one beer, watch them drink for 2 hours, and then make sure everyone gets home safe. [Wink]

That's usually my permanant designation within my own group of friends, and I'm completely okay with that. So long as they want to have fun via drinking, and I have zero problem with not joining in, it's a match made in heaven. [Smile]

I kind of think that if you wonder if you drink too much, you likely do.
