Pretty interesting interview.

I'm posting this as a seperate thread instead of sticking it in the presidential primary thread, by the way, because if this turns into the ugly sort of slugfest that some threads have devolved into, I a) don't want that thread to be polluted, and b)want this topic to be easily lockable without shutting down the larger discussion.

Characteristically nuanced and personal.

It struck me as odd in the preface how the author seemed to imply a lack of sincerity.

Sounds like a stance I could agree with. But I wonder if he would be able to recognize a situation where Israel and Palestine truly could not resolve their differences.

He seemed to more or less stick to what he's said before, only with more elaboration on why he feels that way.

In short: meh.

I have to agree with twinky. I did appreciate this, though:

Here's another link, Noemon.

Linking not to be taken as a sign of agreement with any of the assertions promulgated therein, particularly in light of the needless and seemingly petty denigration of the memory of Edward Said.

Added: By the way, Noemon, it's worth following the New York Times link in the post I linked here. It goes into a bit of detail about Obama's political rise. Page 6 is what the New Republic post references, though.

It didn't seem like denigration to me.
