His FAQ answers that, but I thought I might be in violation if I pasted too much text here.

If you want to play that game I posted the link in the youtube thread even earlier! [Razz]

Though I agree it deserves its own thread.

I was trying to be ironic. He presents this as something to make us feel better, and it only serves to cheese me off.

See if I ever try for deep humor around here again. [Wink]

I'm seriously bawling. That is wonderful. Wonderful.

And I think, after reading his FAQ, I'm gonna go buy some Stride gum. Which is probably exactly what they had hoped, but when they sponsor something like that, in the way they did it, they get my business. Even though I hardly ever buy gum.

Stride, if you're reading this, smart move.

Oh, and my two-year-old's comment on the video after she watched it: "They both same! All people! Same!"

Which is, I think, exactly the point. Wonderful.

I've come to a conclusion.

I am the Grinch.

Every time someone tells me something will touch me or restore my faith in humanity or even just make me smile, I just find myself annoyed.

Except...

There was a news story (someone at Hatrack pointed it out, maybe three months ago) about a softballer who blew her knee out after hitting a game winning home run, and was then helped around the bases by her opponents. That was nice.

This, for me, is just a bit too simple and easy to be meaningful.

It's funny you posted that, Senoj. I just was thinking about why this captured my imagination so--but it did. I went and looked at his website, watched his older videos, and even watched part of a lecture he gave. And I still go back and just smile at the simple silly little dance done all over the world. Anything that can make smiling that contagious is a good thing, as far as I'm concerned. Especially when it's a smile of joy with no rancor or bitterness or sarcasm attached. I'm really happy for him that he captured the imagination of enough people (and a generous sponsor) that he was able to keep going and continue doing the traveling he loved. Contagious enjoyment is a cool thing.

(I also wonder if you watched this after having read a lot of the comments on the thread. I know that when I've read/heard a lot of hype about something, I find myself jaded by the time I experience it for myself.)
