I'm looking for good daily news blogs, particularly those coming from embedded reporters following a particular topic over the course of many weeks or months. Right now, I've been sticking by James Reynolds's China on the BBC, which had fantastic coverage of the Olympics, but I'm looking for more. This is the first political/news blog I've started reading and I really enjoy it.
I'm interested in African news particularly, and blogs that look at the Muslim world, but any good news blogs would be appreciated.

I'm a big fan of EastSouthWestNorth, this is a blog based in Hong Kong which translates mainstream Chinese news, Internet chatter, and other sources from Chinese to English and is updated on a daily basis. It does follow news events for weeks or even months after the Western news media loses interest, which is good http://www.zonaeuropa.com/weblog.htm
Of potential interest may be this survey http://rconversation.blogs.com/rconversation/2006/12/blogs_and_china.html This survey tracks which blogs mainstream journalists follow for additional information and story ideas. The survey itself is based at RConversation, a blog focusing on free speech and media issues, written by a former CNN anchor. You can follow links from that site to "Global Voices" a collaborative blog by random people from around the world, if you're curious.
I've got nothing for Africa, but I've collected and evaluated a fair number of sources for China as a result of the Olympics

BBC's Talking America blog is interesting -- it's a UK perspective of the US election season.
A while back I found a site called WorldMeets.US. They take international editorials about the US and the West and translate them into English. If you've ever been interested in that sort of thing, it's a good site.
