I was just wondering if anyone on here, preferably someone fluent in Spanish, would be willing to help me with my translation paper. All I need is for another person to read over my English translation and help me make corrections and/or give suggestions. Anything you can do, I would really appreciate. Thanks!

Well, we don't do it for them, certainly. But I have done the equivalent of what Kelly is asking -- as long as the person asking has actually done their work first.

well, I would. Especially if it's a translation, since it's standard practice in the translating world for texts to be reviewed.

so, like, you never had your parents going over your homework when you were little? or asking someone to read over your essay to see if it reads well?
it's a homework, not a sit-in exam. homeworks usually allow for a degree of external help.

btw, machine translation may be a useful (and acknowledged) tool in a translator's work. Most translation courses include a class on machine translation. It is just another tool, along with dictionaries or databases.

My Spanish is still pretty good. I learned it on the street in Mexico +40 years ago, but I still get by. My English is OK too. (One caviat, I misspell fluently in both languages.) And, I have some years experience constructively helping with homework. Today is kind of busy. I look over the boys homework everyday... and if they got something wrong, I circle it and they have to go back over it and figure it out. If they can't figure it out - we work it out together. This results in them, usually, getting 100% on their homework. I don't feel like it's wrong at all... It's not like I'm cheating and doing it for them, I'm just looking it over and showing them where they're wrong. How does it help if you do the work at home wrong but don't know why?
I'm a big fan of someone looking over someone else's homework. That being said - I'm pretty sure I'm not fluent enough in Spanish to be of help, Kelly. Sorry!

I'd let that post count get above a hundred before I started doing anybody any favors.
And your supposed to help your kids with HW, not people on the interwebs. Look, just my opinion.

Why not? My mom was my math tutor all through college, and my dad helped me with quantum mechanics. If I ever make it to grad school, I certainly plan to ask them for help.
