Alright so, about the broken laptop for a few weeks ago, it seems that most likely they'll declare it as removed from inventory and send it to be recycled, I will have to double check with Mr P but if I can I'm gonna try and see if I can get it off my college for free, its a DECENT laptop, not fancy, its a square grey box with 2 gb ram and a duo core processor and as of this moment a burnt out backlight but heck, all I need to do is plug in a monitor and poof. Got a screen back.

But nonetheless, if I do manage to get it from my college, how much would replacing a burnt backlight cost? One of my hardware savvy friends suggests 450$ (his price to do it himself), my dad geusses 100$, not sure what my Primary Hardware savvy friend thinks ill find out.

Depending on the individual components, a laptop backlight repair will run between $20 and $100 for parts. I'd expect to pay at least another $100 for labor. If you've got the model number you can probably find the parts on eBay.

Blayne, I really think you need to reexamine your life. How many of your problems are caused by malfunctioning technology?

You might be happier living by a lake and growing your own food.

Then we'll just start getting posts about how he caught his rake handle on fire and wonders what he should say to the people at Home Depot when tries to return it as defective.
